ok, a very late follow up, but I will report that it DOES indeed work. I kinda half-assed it cause I wasn’t checking on them, and turned off the hose for a week or two at one point (so they werent being misted) but I have at least half of what was “stuck in the sand” as a fresh cutting showing roots, and in flower. These were cut back in July, so clearly if I took them outta the sand, they would be much bigger. Sorry no pics, they are kinda pitiful and I don’t even plan to bother with them, but pulling and seeing the roots confirmed that the method worked. Proof in the pudding as they say. Oh and better rates with the ones receiving more sun. The shaded ones were 50/50, full sun ones were 80%.

Coarse perlite works very well in a mister bed.
