Just wanted to share with you guys I noticed my winter bags of De icer always draw water in my bucket I keep them in.I stuck an open bag in a bucket in my grow tent and instead of 65 percent humidity I’m at 38 percent now.I have to empty the bucket every day it takes in that much humidity.Easy poor man’s dehumidifier if you can’t get your hands on one
Can’t read the label on the bag, what substance is it exaclty?
I Need that info too, what Is in the bag?
That is very clever.
@allotment @Andrexl the bag in the picture looks like the one in this link…
according to the description:
“Improved custom blended formula. Contains sodium chloride, magnesium chloride and MG104.”
Thanks a lot!
What he said Just make sure to empty the water at the bottom of thr bucket and dry thr bag out every now and then
i was just wondering that. if you dry the bag out, can you basically keep reusing it? i also wonder if you use them during curing whether they would impact the flavor. thanks for sharing this tidbit.
I’ve been reusing the same bag so as long as you can dump thr water it keeps pulling humidity as far as I see. It’s not a huge amount but it might be that 10%or so you need for a game changer
Whut’s dat?
Don’t know about the cure I’ve been using paper bags and it was all I needed to cure in my attic
Great tip! Thank you for sharing.
yea right? after a quick google, i found this page…
where they mention the term “methyl-glucoside”. after a quick google of that, i found some very scientific papers which were way above my pay grade. but this is the short wikipedia page on methylglucoside…
ultimately, i have no clue still!
I wonder if a bag of salt would have the same effect?
If it’s sodium chloride, as someone suggested, that is salt. Pretty cool improv by OP.
I hanged socks filled with marine gross salts (early days before buying dehus ) and they finished solid as rocks, it works but not as reliable as a dehumidifier …
Nice tip.
I would’ve tried it before I bought a 60 pint dehumidifier
I love it! Take that green tax!!
i did pretty well in high school biology, but for some reason, i was able to get by my whole educational life without taking any chemistry beyond whatever was covered in basic science class. and i’m happier that way!
thanks for keeping the knowledge train rollin’…
