Root Riot / SANlight M30 too close to plants ? signs of burn?

Hi all,

the 2 little plants are just a few days old. Yesterday I recognised a yellow spot on one of the leaves (pict will follow) and now I m asking myself, if this could be burns. They live in ROOT RIOTS (witch I have to water quite often. 12 drops here 20 drops there…)

I m using a SanLight M30. The distance top of plant to light is 4,724` or 12 cm. Is it too close ?

Temp is 25-27 C - humidity is 40 %

This is my first indoor grow and I must be careful not to use too much LITFA

Any comments are welcome !

Thank you for your inputs - have a nice day !

Seedlings need very little light. Raise it to 24 inches and lower it when the seedlings start to stretch too much. Try using a humidity dome if you got one. You want the plugs moist but not wet be careful in watering often.

I’d run an LED setup it could explain something like you’re light being too close to your plant.

Seedlings have not much root, so they drink mostly from the leaves, you should raise up the humidity and put a dome as it has been said. Is it no nutes pHed water you are giving? Cheers … :sunglasses:

Thank you for answering so fast. Really appreciate it, because I need good advice now and not a week after x-mas…

I have a regular propagator with a transparent dome. The first few days the dome was on, humidity around 75-80 %, temp 24c to 26c… All went well…

Then I read on the Net, that high humidity is bad bad bad, because the seedlings might get a fungus or just drown and rot.

And I read that once they show the heads to give them all the light you get. The more, the better… Think I should stop reading too much on the net.

I know about not giving too much water. Clever me has a dummy Root Riot in the game with no seed. Just to press it to see how wet or dry he is

I never give more then about 1 to 1.5 ml per serving. I do this for the first time and I have to learn it by doing… and your advice

Thank you :helmet_with_cross::om_symbol:

Jep, pHed water with no nutes, Sir !

I ll put the dome back on and will raise humidity and the light…
Please read my answer to @grief. So I dont have to repeat myself…

Cheers :helmet_with_cross:

Yes too much of a wet medium will cause problems. Remember this motto for seedlings “moist but not wet.” Let them dry out a little. Letting it dry out helps promote root growth. Also water the edges of the plug and not directly on stall of seedling. High himidity for seedlings and veg is ok
