Hello OG! Hope everyone is having an excellent day, I know I am! So first up just a quick update in the small tent and then we will do some rosin pressing .
Veg Tent
Hey @Kalgrae , ya said purple tips but WOW! The other two are not so dominantly purple but definitely has that purple hue throughout the leaves. What do you want me to call them, I may just say “purple piggy” to reference them. Plus I got 3 of those little piggies
The re-vegged clones are growing out their funky leaf sets and are blasting growth tops faster then I can top them. Looking for one good mother each from the 3 NL clones and 3 WW clones. Then I will build the mother DWC setup
Root systems are developing nicely with a gentle PH swing from 5.5 to 6.2 over 3 days. So they are eating, but the clones are going to be wanting more food so we will be selecting one mother from each in the next week.
Lets Squish Rosin!
So I have been playing around a bit and am getting better and better at my yields. This round I used some very average weed weighing in at 0.73g.
One thing I do is to put some moisture back into this dry ass weed. so I wrap it in a paper towel and gently run it under water for 20 seconds (water board ) . Then don’t squeeze it, just set it down for a 10 minutes in the wet towel or until the pigment from the weed is starting to absorb into the paper towel.
Next I lined a shot glass with parchment paper and press down a puck of the weed. When making the puck, I broke up the bud and removed the sharp stems that could rip out paper.
I made a bunch of parchment squares all the same size to fit the heat plates. I fold the edges so the goodness doesn’t leak out.
So far I have figured out 240f to 260f for about 10 to 20 seconds seems to do the trick.
The first press I did it at 240f, then the second press I did at 260f and got a higher yield. I did not attempt a third press because the bud wasn’t sticky at all afterwards.
We got 0.12g of beautiful rosin, This is great and if we crunch the numbers.
Number crunching...
Starting product weight is 0.73g
Ending product weight is 0.12g
Ending weight / Starting weight = Yield | 0.12 / 0.73 = 0.164 = 16.4% yield
Total of 16.4% yield on this average so-so weed. Not bad, but I think I can increase yield with better weed, and dialing in the press a bit more, but we are on the right track.
Thanks for joining me and may the wind always be at your back, and the sun always upon your face, and may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.
