Seed Run Co-Op: Maui Mango Haze (CLOSED)

Hello everybody. I am very sorry I haven’t been keeping up with this. the plants are looking OK. They got invaded by snails, then aphids, but they’re hanging in.

They’re getting close to being finished. I chucked a GSC clone I had, and it seems to be more susceptible to the damage, so I’ve pulled 5-6 small side buds off. Those buds have yielded just over 300 nice looking seeds.

The seeds are starting to pop through the husks, I’m thinking maybe 2 more weeks they’ll be ready to chop.
I’ve lost one of my big outdoor plants to bud rot, and I’ve seen some trying to get started on another one. The weather’s supposed to clear off, and the temp/humidity’s supposed to drop, so they may be OK. I’m gonna watch them over the weekend and might chop them on Monday. They could go another week or two, so we’ll see.

Here are some MMH pictures. They’re loaded down with seeds, so there should be plenty to go around.

Thanks for looking everyone. Stay safe. :vulcan_salute:

Oh, man. I really love the look of luscious ladies loaded with ripe seeds. Well done!

Hopefully the bud rot won’t progress much further. Best wishes!

Hello everyone. I’ve been in trim jail for a couple of weeks, but I got out last night, so I wanted to do a quick update. The wet weather has taken a toll. I chopped down my GSC pollen chuck because of bud rot. It’s been in the 40s the last couple of nights, and there’s a couple more to go, then Friday night it’s back to the 50s. I was gonna chop 'em, but I think I’ll wait.

I took clones of all of them. They survived both an aphid infestation and my attempts to get rid of that infestation, and they’re doing good now. All except #2, they all bit it.

They look kinda ratty, but here are some pictures. Another week, maybe 10 days on these I think. Thanks everybody!!

Awesome job, can’t wait to get these to try out. Gonna run them with the Maui Sunshine from @Sebring and have myself a happy Hawaiian harvest.

when they look like that second pic with the sugar leaves browning I worry about them being a source of mold or pm. Do you trim those away, maybe cut the whole bud down and leave the rest or just let them go?

I hate to crash your topic with an off-topic question, but what ever happened to those Apollo runts that you popped? I’ve always been curious about runts.

Plants take up the most water during the full moon due to the strongest gravitation pull…The best time to harvest is after the fullmoon at the end of its cycle to the start of a new moon… Best time to germinate seeds is at the crescent in a waxing moon aka a 1/4 sliver new moon.

This shows you the best time to germinate seeds and harvest your bud…

@Guitarzan beautiful strain ,grow and thread you have.Great job on the seed run.

Whether to pull brown sugar leaves or not really depends on the strain. I have had Afghan dominant plants that will mold if a tear falls on them if you leave those brown leaves. But that’s Outdoors. Indoors is different and I have less experience growing the Afghan types indoors. What you have to look out for is this those brown leaves where it attaches to the main stalk. With the extra humidity located in the interior of a bud, this is where botrytis can form.

I will cut those leaves off as close to the stem, inside the bud as I can, If I start to see any mould starting, I think what happens is water runs down the leaf stem into the bud, where it coilects and starts causing the mould. Afghanis are a nightmare for pm I find, as well as mould.

When and if they arrive ( never received the last box from the north ) I’ll crack them ASAP

I didn’t really expect them to pop, and I didn’t have any room for them, so they got tossed.

Hey everyone. My sincere apologies for letting this slide. After 3 weeks in trim jail, and a couple of other tasks that cropped up, this got plumb away from me.

I’m not sure what happened to those plants. I never saw any rot on the MMH plants, but they looked like they started dying. I guess something ate them up. I’m not sure what, but I did find several tiny snail shells as I was breaking up the buds.

This was also very odd.

It looks like the seeds started to germinate in the pods. I’ve never seen this happen before, but there are a LOT of these.

These aren’t sorted yet, but there should be enough viable seeds for everyone to get some.

I’m also happy to announce the return of Biggus Dickus!

He’s looking pretty good, and this time I won’t fuck up the pollen collection. (I hope :grimacing:) With any luck there should be some pollen to send out at some point.

And finally we have a shot of the MMH clones in 2 gal bags flowering in the 4x4.

There were clones of all 6 plants except #2, who didn’t survive the one-two punch of aphids, and my overly aggressive means of getting rid of them.

I really like this strain. The plants all display excellent branching, and the bud structure is great. The branches fill out real nice, as you can see from the seeded bud shots above. I can’t wait to smoke some, and there’s no telling what’s in the F2s. :grinning:

They start flowering fast once the lights are flipped. These were flipped on 10/5, so this is day 15. They don’t get huge, not in 2 gal bags indoors anyway. I didn’t top these, and they’re all between 35-40" tall.

I actually cut those plants down a couple of days after that last round of pictures. I have a procedure for sterilizing seeds in preparation for in vitro germination that I’m thinking about using on these seeds just for the reasons you state.

Take a look at it, and let me know what you think.

As OG grow logs go this one’s kinda weak, but it’s my first one, so hopefully they’ll get better.

Thanks for looking. :vulcan_salute:
