how different do you think acapulco gold is from colombian gold?
i know there are a few breeders with acapulco gold repro’s out now.

AG is from lowlands on the coast of Mexico, and CG is from mountainous region. They’re both landrace Sativa, although the AG is supposedly much better

Also, even though some breeders have a repop of the AG , there are some original floating around

The AG is one my grampa and pop grew in the 50s &60s lol I grew up with it

It really took off in popularity in the 60s with the hippie movement

They were different. Acapulco Gold had the catchier name made famous by Cheech and Chong, but Columbian Gold would blow it’s doors in. Most of what was sold on the east coast from the mid 70’s–thru 82ish was Columbian Gold. No matter what it was called. Columbian Gold had several levels of quality. You had the good, the bad and the ugly in columbian. Amongst ourselves the top gold we called “brite” and everything else just called gold. Brite was amazing. I have not seen much growing or grown online that looks like real gold. I think it got killed off during the war on drugs paraquat soaking that took place south of the border. I never saw much after '82.
For reference sake…Brite was $400 a lb in '78 while Jamaican (yuck) was $280 fob/FLA :wink:
