Howdy. Long time smoker, about to be first time grower, sth east qld region. Anyway, finally took the plunge a few weeks ago and ordered some seeds. From what I’ve read weed has a lot of similar planting/pruning techniques with tomatoes , so I’m wondering if I can just go with some potting mix/nutes that is specifically used for tomato seedlings. I have some very specific ideas for my ideal grow but am not sure if I’m going to have enough time to get it ready and I don’t want to fuck this up or leave it any later than I have. So I want to plant a few of what I’ve got and then get my sites ready for a proper grow next season. Cheers.
Hi @DIEmicrosoft
A big howdy and welcome to OG.
It can be somewhat overwhelming and confusing when you first decide that you want to grow your own cannabis. So many different techniques and methods can be employed to achieve
success. This is one of the reasons that this hobby is so much fun and also so compelling, you will eventually develop your own procedures. The most important step is to just get started. There is an abundance of knowledge here on OG with many friendly growers, eager to assist you. Experts in virtually every growing method, willing to share.
I like to grow in soilless mix in containers.
For beginning seeds, I have used various seed starting mixes available like JiffyMix Seed Starter, or a good soilless mix such as ProMix. A tomato nutrient formula will work fine.
Provide us with some specific variables such as in/out, type of lighting, medium etc.
Have fun, and best of luck in Overgrowing.
I don’t know specifically about tomato mix. Check the manufacturer online and find out the pH of the soil. I expect it would be fine but check anyway.
I use promix. Not because it is “the best” but because I’m tuned into it. It is a known element to me which cuts down in a lot of variables.
Yeah should have stated that, this will be outdoor guerilla. Up in the mountains, a few rainforesty areas around so some really nice soil to play with. Thanks for the reply.
I love guerilla grows. Looking forward to seeing what you get going and growing!
