Should trust level requirements be enhanced?

I hear these people have more seeds than they can grow in three lifetimes.

I don’t think it’s about that.

and that’s why i asked to be double checked, regardless of what is thought of me, i do on occasion still make mistakes, and sometimes i don’t catch them. like this morning, i could’ve sworn i saw that phrase somewhere in one of these few posts, and then i found it in one from @G-paS, although not “popularity contest” it did have “popularity” in it. such is life. happy sunday to you all as well!

The issue I have with your posts are that they’re your interpretation of what people are saying and are often incorrect, or outright wrong. The reality is that the most popular people on this forum are popular because they give back to the community.

No problem @sfzombie13 , don’t worry no hard feelings here :grinning:

Thanks for correcting my language. I’m not sure what people have in their fridge or not is so relevant to the discussion though.

Then what is it in your opinion? You’re implying too much here it doesn’t help so much to understand

and that is the reason i quote when i am replying to direct words. i paraphrase thoughts to ensure i have them right because i don’t think like other people. add to that how hard it is to convey meaning through words and you have misunderstandings. in most other places on the internet it devolves into crap, but here it mostly remains nicer and i like that. if i’m paraphrasing you in a comment and you think i’m wrong, by all means correct me. i actually enjoy learning when i am wrong as it helps me in the future. like this morning when i made three mistakes all in a row. if nobody had said anything i would’ve thought i was right and left the thread. as it is, i found out i was wrong, i adjusted, and now i am on the right track.

back to the discussion, what would it hurt to come up with some qualifications to achieve tl3 manually? as long as they were open to interpretation and didn’t add too much extra work for the mods, i’d think it would be a good thing. but it doesn’t matter to me, at least any more than just passing time and taking part in a community i feel included in. have a great week!

Obtaining the highest trust level available here should be because you want to earn people’s trust. Not for the acquisition of free seeds.

For once I might have found myself among the people who wish this forum wasn’t gaining a reputation as a place for free seeds.

I can see the logic of there being a committee that can grant TL3 status manually (i.e. in addition to the current system), maybe akin to the committee who votes on Seed Co-Op proposals. That solves the problem (if there is one) of people who contribute a lot to the community, in terms of knowledge-sharing or other forms of generosity, who haven’t reached TL3 on their own.

I’m suggesting that this is a molehill not a mountain and people are getting heated over nothing.

I hear also that the people who give away seeds really don’t care and are willing to take the risk because even the slightest chance that someone will grow their work Is worth it.

Trust level means nothing. I don’t even know what mine is.

It’s apparently Master Photographer.

One of the best things I’ve found about this forum is most people are very kind to one another and generally there aren’t many pissing matches. I shopped around and never joined another grow forum til I found this one. It’s not just the best grow forum, it’s the best forum I’ve found on the net. I really hope it can stay that way.

i think this is the real nugget in this thread. i’ve had several successful trades now, one with another foreigner in canada. i didn’t even look at their profiles before sending the seeds. as soon as i get a bunch of seeds, should be next year, then i’ll be one sending them out to everyone, regardless of trust level.

@CanuckistanPete i wholeheartedly agree with that sentiment! :clinking_glasses: here’s to keeping it that way.

I think it’s just a badge. And you should see my boudoir photography. Formidable.

@CanuckistanPete has questionable personal hygiene and doesn’t even use deodorant.

You’re right of course. It’s the only social media I use period.

I agree with that, I’ve heard that too, but I don’t think that’s the issue discussed here.

I heard it as some of those people who give away seeds and take that risk, but feels that the “trust level” is sometimes impacting them in the co-op seed runs subscription.

You’re TL3.

I admit to using a few other discussion boards, but no FB or IG or the like for me. And I spend more time on here than the others combined…by far.

Well boohoo.

If you’re nice people will welcome you with open arms and you can have whatever you want. This place is so free and open and giving that if you want my seeds from the coop you can probably have them.

i logged out of facebook almost 10 years ago now and haven’t missed anything except grandbabies’ pictures, but i see them regularly so no loss there. never had an ig account and have lost or stopped using most others for one reason or another. i still have reddit and dropzone besides this one. this is where i spend most of my time now too, which is getting shorter and shorter since the little one came our way.

I can say I don’t use these things because they are facile and vacuous, which they are, but really they’re not good for me because i made a conscious decision not to live my life at light speed and that sort of constant stimulation isn’t heathy IMO.

That’s a quite contemptuous phrasing here for people that expressed their feeling.

That’s not quite as easy as you describe IMHO. For example, some strains have very limited seeds available.

Yes. I am entitled to free shit more than the next guy.

Coops often produce thousands of seeds.
