Lil buggers, worm their way into our hearts, love us unconditionally until we figure out how to love them the same way back, and then they leave… Lil buggers

not my pet directly, but he’s on my mind.

(backstory: my wife and i board dogs as a side hustle. people go on vacation, they leave their dogs with us)

Jackster™ has been boarding with us for about 6yrs. he is one of our favorites as he is a sweet boy and gets along with everyone. he was older, so always acted like all the dog’s big brother/dad. he helped keep the young’uns in line.

Unknown to us, he stayed with us his last time this last weekend. his folks picked him up monday afternoon and texted us tues morning that they had put him down on the vets recommendation. to be fair he was old and he did have a multitude of health problems, including hip dysplasia and cancer, so it wasn’t like he was the picture of health.

we are still trying to process this somewhat. not our dog and not our choice to make. very sad. i don’t think the owners made the choice lightly. he was loved and well cared for. just hard to process. i was just playing with him and giving him buttscratchies 2 days ago. :frowning:

anyways… what’s done is done. i’m glad i got to see him one more time and make his stay special. he will be missed.

RIP Jackster
