Mites and fungus have been devastating my garden this year,.but still getting some. Here are some chocolate ghosts.
Thank you @RadioWaves for the pepper seeds, my son and I can’t wait to grow them ,)
I’m hoping that this coming summer I’ll have several types of peppers to grow and collect seeds from, and of course do trades with people and hand some out to whoever wants some… @duo
@Puffalo thoes peppers look very cool, I find peppers to be interesting. Love all the diff types all look amazing and delicious
Yessss @Sniklefritz please tell me HOW to dry peppers out so I can also make pepper powder.
That last pic is terrible but that 7 pot brain strain just hit 6 ft tall …I stripped the bottom and it just turned into a tree. Anyway I grew way too many of these things this year. Apocalypse scorpion, 7 pot, naga brain and scotch bonnet chocolates were all the real hot ones. They look cool but they’re too much heat
@Sniklefritz you can tame the heat with making hot sauces with fruits, and some vegetables like carrots, especially Mango
It sounds crazy to some, but seriously it works very well. And the heat is cut close to half .
I just used a dehydrator at 125f I think it was. Outside though. After two minutes realized inside wasn’t an option. Seemed like tear gas was coming lol. You can smoke them before dehydrating for some extra flavor. My buddy just hangs them on strings inside for a long time though I’m pretty sure and they dry out ok. Then I just used a little electric processor to grind them down pretty fine. Don’t touch your eyes or your anything either, for whatever reason as soon as you start processing them you get itchy but DO NOT SCRATCH!
Nice I bet you could make some nice sauces with different combos. I’ve heard of others using bell. The ones without seeds are more tame too
I’m not even joking. 1hr ago I was taking seeds from the jalapeños and definitely washed my hands afterwards, apparently not enough. Stuck my fingers in my eyes to clean them and F KING HELL. water rinse for 15min to calm them down… @Sniklefritz
Yes exactly. No seeds or meat = less heat, same when using sweet peppers mixed loads of recipes online. Can even make hot sauce the same way with dried Powdered peppers
A little update on my pepper adventures. I did end up grabbing some seedlings to grow in 5-gallon fabric pots in my backyard and had a pretty successful go of things. I ended up growing three varieties of habaneros: orange, chocolate, and Trinida red congo. I love the fruitiness of habaneros.
So far I’ve used the chocolate habaneros to do a smoked jerk pork shoulder and have made a few batches of hot sauce featuring all 3 varieties. I also ended up dehydrating some that I ground in the spice grinder to make habanero powder.
I must say, I enjoyed growing these as much as my other plants
Just as bad when I picked my nose after cutting up some orange habaneros the other day.
I was wondering the same thing and discovered my Ninja Air Fryer has a dehydration setting. I cut peppers into thin strips and put them in the basket and let them go at 135 for 6 hours
Oh yeah I know that pain. And you know it’s coming before it gets bad too which is the worst part.
Nice. It was so humid when I was doing it it took about 12 but it got the job done. I’m not sure what it is but it’s my dads dehydrator from when I was a kid. Thing just keeps trucking thirty years or so later
This was my first year growing any peppers. Went with cayenne on account of being from New Orleans. It is a lovely plant that I enjoy a lot, and was nice and easy to grow.
First citron from @potpotpot. Looking forward to making some hot sauce from them. They have a nice little kick! Definitely saving these seeds and growing more next year.
