So I’m just curious about any and all feedback, experiences or if they’re worth keeping for the my seedlings or vegetables garden…please don’t hesitate, I am looking for both positive and negative input on whether or not to just throw away or tryout…here’s a quick picture
I use them for starting seeds for outdoors. They work great. Water them from the bottom, keep them wet.
I’m gonna have to come down on the no side. The only time I used those was the only time I lost an entire batch of pepper starts to mold. Dozens of plants, realllllly sucked.
I know that is not evidence as such that the jiffy pots caused the mold, but I’ve grown with plastic pots, fabric bags, hell I’ve used reusable grocery bags before, but my only total failure was with jiffy pots.
I would just throw those in the compost pile.
I kinda agree but didnt have mold. Just damped off seedlings trying to start peppers, tomatoes and sunflowers for outdoors. Even with the seedling soil mix, it was too moist for them. They either are too dry too quick, or too wet too long…
That being said, I found the same stack in the basement a while ago. Its still where I saw it, probably should compost it cause I aint gonna use em (knew that when I saw em and didnt bother to touch em LOL. rather burn drainage holes in solo cups TBH)
Novelty to sell to soccer moms. Toss
This is y I started this topic so I wanna hear the good the bad and ugly… plus I was just curious about how long it takes for them to actually and not restrict roots or something like that if anyone understood LoL…damn this Sour Diesel I picked up a ¼ of at my dispensary Tuesday has quickly becoming the best Sour D I’ve gotten since moving to Colorado and can’t wait to see how things end up with the Sour Diesel. Happy spring Growing to the OG community!

I had some so I used them. No problem but, wouldn’t get them again.
Ditto.
They can be re-used once or twice if you transplant the seedlings or can go directly in the ground. In my experience they tend to disintegrate quickly. Solo cups last for a long time.
I appreciate all your feedback and I am going to be trying one with these and another in a solo cup amd I’ll see which one best suits me The Doc
I don’t like ‘em. I can’t really give you a good reason, but I don’t like ‘em
Never used those but have used peat pellets with mixed results. I started using 4 and 8 sectioned plastic nursery things my wife gets her marigolds in with some starter soil of your preference.
Elsewhere on this Forum I’ve read peat pots can cause plant problems due to their acidity.
its more that they need to be really really wet consistently in order for the roots to break through them or for them to break down which in the process causes other issues.
Just go regular pots and transplant come week 3 or so if you have similar sized ones
I’ve used them and had no problems…great for rooted cuttings then just stick it in the ground/pot.
Horrible, avoid. Did side by side several times.
Plastic always has better plants, stronger growth.
Of course people give them to me & I use them. Even after burying them they are slow to break down.
Here is this year’s lessons. I Never learn.
I used to use those for starting seeds as I could put the whole thing in the ground.
