My friend who I went to high school with is a glass blower. His studio is like less than a minute from my house. I help out with some business stuff a handful of times during the year including taxes. It is amazing to watch them work. It makes me wish I had an tiny bit of artistic talent.

@stonetechglass on insta if you want to see his stuff.

@piccolo I believe is rude boy glass…maybe I’m wrong.

I have a setup, haven’t used it in a couple years though. The local oxygen supply got super expensive, glass isn’t cheap either. One day I’ll get a homefill oxygen setup going

I like his use of petrified wood in the pipes, very different looking.

Is it possible to sand out small chips in glass ware and buff it back to a clear glass finish?I have a small almost hammer pipe I’ve had it for years was made out of very thick glass stock.It bounced like a ping pong ball across a concrete floor years ago and got 3 very small chips the depth of a grain of sand about the same circumference didn’t even penetrate the color work I can see

A medium thickness super glue will fill the dings much faster then trying to sand them out.

Might be possible, could still be small fractures in the glass though and it also might stress it further during the sanding process, I’d be leary of smoking out of it after. ( Due to the glass dust from sanding and potentially cracking/exploding it further with lighter heat)

Safest repair would be a super slow heat up in a kiln, flame polish the area and then anneal again.There’s always the risk of it exploding during that process though too :laughing:

You had me at the exploding part

I’d be more worried about the oxygen than the glass in the kiln.

A whole lot could go wrong blowing glass :joy:, proper setup, torch handling and flashback arrestors are definitely your friend. That k-tank would be an absolute missile!
