The Canadian Contingent (Part 2)

If I’m now a Federal employee can I say,

“I’m here to help”

Bahahahahahahha

There were monitoring stations installed and an international agreement called the “montreal protocol” to defend the atmosphere against ozone depleting chemicals. They changed the formula of Freon. etc etc
Even in the modern age the industry in south asia were using CFCs so the stations detected it and they knew where it was coming from. Told 'em to cut that shit out.

Geez, forgot to say for the “One and Done” not for drinking lol

I’d be interested…I was going to make JPS’ one and done but had a time trying to round up ingredients so I went another route. It worked, but I think his way would be a lot easier.

Well, since I’m now a Fed and “Here to help”
Send me some deets and you’re on the list .

BTW, I’m only a “Fed” for 90 days lol

No deets will be shared with any other “Fed” department, EVER !

I’m interested for sure.
I usually get my everclear from my brother inlaw when he visits from edmonton as it’s hard to get here in bc without a permit or liquor license. Even then, quantity is controlled… not so in freedom loving Alberta LOL Brother inlaw is moving to Serbia so my everclear connection has ended for the forseeable future
I have all the stuff to make a recovery still , I just haven’t gotten too that project yet.

I’ve had to get mine smuggled in from Quebec. S’il vous plait.

The guy said “you drink this stuff?”

I said “no, it’s a chemical solvent.”

Reflux , not recovery .
I can usually hit 94/95% with my setup .

Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think you can get any higher than that unless you’re pulling a vacuum.

If Oui oui gets you more …

Say Oui !

96 is azeotrope , chemistry is involved around there and after.
After I do a stripping run (about 60%) on my setup, 94/95% on a spirit run with what I have to work with .

yes , reflux… I have a 3 foot column with stainless packing. Like I say I have all the stuff here , I just have to assemble it to a pressure canner I have yet to modify.

@Foreigner , I think the vacuum pump comes into play when you are pulling and recovering the alcohol from an extract but I am a novice and still in the learning curve myself.

95.6% but bah specifics

And will say just easier to get a boiler setup, SS milk container with heating element flange

Don’t waste your time on a pressure canner .
Find a local brewshop and get a stillspirits boiler that they use on the T500 or a Grainfather boiler or the likes .
I got my T500 boiler for 240$ and I already had the chinee stainless 2" column stuff .
I have a few air stills but I had them to make RSO , I only use them on ethanol to try or to prove something, not big enough volume for production even on a personal level unless you want to be running it every other day lol.

I’m a DIY guy and we have built these in the past for other purposes hehehe
There is a stainless beer keg out there I was gonna modify as well but I think it is destined to be a wood stove for hunt camp…
I have a large presto canner I got for 20 bucks at a neighbors garage sale. The pressure gauge is snapped off but otherwise it’s a large vessel with a locking lid. I got replacement seals for it off amazon prime just need to bore it out for the column. We have used similar large pressure canners for backyard stills in the past with great results. My buddy down on the coast is quite the refined spirits enthusiast but I don’t bug him to run corn mash for me LOL He’s into his bourbons and brandys

Stainless or aluminum canner ?
My next is either gonna be a 58l SS beer keg or a 30 gallon stainless indirect hot water heater tank , have stretched the length of my column to get to 7’ before it drops down to my copper Liebig condensor.
I scored a 1200w and a 5500w heating element with 2" tri-clamp weld in ferrules and other fittings from a beer guy for cheap.
Gonna get really creative soon and try to re-rig my setup to run as a continuous still so I can do larger (100l)ish stripping runs to get bulk product for the spirit run

not sure what model it is but it is polished stainless. I have a cast aluminum one as well. come to think of it the aluminum one might be the presto… so not sure the brand of the stainless one
I have a collection of large canners… a couple I only use for canning foods and a bunch of spares LOL

Great, and all’s good, tired consistently which is par the course when you have a little one wanting to explore everywhere and do it herself.
