We did a couple of pine trees today.
On a steep bank at the edge of a lake.
One round got away from us.
Rolled down the bank at speed and launched, then it floated about 20’ off shore.
We had to get our Deepwater rescue boat out to retrieve the round.
I used to wonder why there was no more ren and stimpy, but then I learned the horrible truth. There was. And it was terrible. Ahh at least I can remember LOG with heady nostalgia! It’s big it’s heavy it’s wood, it’s better than bad - it’s good!
I have a 40ft bad leaner that will hit the house, it’s dead on the bottom and top thirds, just the middle branches have leaves. I need a winch and wedges I think or maybe a bottle jack to get it falling in the right direction before a storm puts it in the house.
Well, winnipeg got its first decent snowfall of the year…there’s so much, I don’t think it’ll all melt again before Halloween. The remembrance day ceremony this year will be cold, wet and cold and wet.
Looks to be a solid 6"-8" out there so far.
Oh man…the bad drivers are gonna be out today! We have so many immigrants that came in over summer and I don’t think many of them have experience driving in snow like this. Have been looking to write my car off though…maybe a trip to Brampton is in order if I can’t get the job done here.
I was thinking of getting an electric winch a while ago, as I have a lot of blown over trees that are hooked up on other trees, once I get them chopped up I have to get them up a steep 30ft bank and I don’t want to have to carry them with my messed up neck.
I don’t have a pole saw but I do have a chain saw chain on a rope that works well, once I actually get it where I want it, usually takes longer to get it where I want it, than cutting the branches with it lol. Using the long notched stick and a ladder I should be able to get it 2 thirds of the way up the tree.
Here I don’t think they have much experience driving in general.
When I was last in the DMV renewing my license, a group of ten came in with an interpreter, they didn’t take any tests they just told him their names and he told the lady at the desk, and she just took their pictures and handed out the licenses.
Depending on what size of winch you were looking for, I would recommend looking into one of these gas powered portable winches. They use rope ,not cable and don’t need to be spooled/unspooled. You just string your rope out from one spot to the pulling point , wrap it around the continuous pulling head and away she goes , also know as a cathead or capstan winch.
