The Cannabible - Hardcover?

Does anyone know if a hardcover version of this book by Jason King was ever printed?

Do you happen to know of the deluxe box that holds all three books is the same for the paperbacks as it is the hardcovers?

I’m trying to piece together a set of hardcovers and would eventually like the collectors box too and didn’t know if I needed to look for a hardcover box separately or of the box I’ve seen advertised for sale with some of the paperback 3 book sets would work just the same.

I’ve believe I’ve also seen a holographic box on eBay! These are such cool books, I love the coffee table style books with pictures of different varieties and their lineage.

@knnth I hope you find a nice set to enjoy! Much love

The paperback set is smaller than the hardcovers with a different non holographic box. :sunglasses:

Appreciate the heads up. I have a feeling it’s going to be hard finding just the box for the hardcovers for sale without the books. Hoping to find a set come across for good deal so I can snag a box even if that means doubling on a title or two. Hope you’re having a wonderful day. Much love

I’ve heard that the paperback version falls apart so I purchased a “hardcover” set from Amazon, and when it arrived the box was hardcover but the books were paperback. The seller said she would check and get back to me but now won’t answer any of my messages, now I know why. Thanks for the clarification.

Yep, that looks legit. A seller on Amazon is advertising a hardcover version for ~70 cad, the case is hardcover but the books are paperback.

Yes there is a “hardcover” of the big, original book.

It’s not quite like a normal hardcover book but it’s close enough.

The bigger book has more info and pics than those 3 little books do. Not a whole lot, but some for sure.

i have the same 3 books…

…what would You call a “Softcover”,if this is a Hardcover?

I have both that set and the big book. The big book has a cover and pages like the 3 smaller ones. but the cover is maybe twice as thick? so it’s more like a hardcover book but not really like you’d expect a real hardcover book to be. And then it has an outer sleeve like it’s a hardcover book. It is maybe 4 inches taller and 3 or so inches wider than the 3 smaller books.

ok,i bought em book by book back then, bevor the 3-book-set was available. what do you mean by “BigBook”…are the books in the Box are smaller in size or content??

The original “big book” is the one I pictured, its large. Yes the 3 cannabible 1/2/3 books are physically smaller than the original book. The smaller cannabible 1 book contain less content than the bigger, no number, “The Cannabible” book. Specifically a few less pictures and no Robert Clarke Introduction.

For the record…. The big book you posted is not a hardcover, the ones I posted up top are actual hardcover books with dust jackets.

Almost, the cannabible 1/cannabible 2/cannabible 3 are the smaller books that each contain 1 third of the material in the real “Big Book” The Cannabible. No numbers attached. Looks like amazon actually lists it as a Paperback

Anyways, Jason King only wrote The Cannabible. One single book with no numbers.

Years later they split that book into 3 parts, dropped the robert clark introduction, a couple strains, and some pics, and called the 3 books The Cannabible 1, The Cannabible 2, and The Cannabible 3 that you can buy separately or in that “hardcover” box set. I guess so he could get more money as they have less info than the original :man_shrugging:

I bought the box set first and then realized years later that the original “The Cannabible” book was the same thing as all 3 of those 10x10 smaller cannabible books, plus extra info and that RC introduction so i got that too and I prefer it to the 3 little one’s. That being said I wouldn’t pay more than $20 or so dollars for it, especially if you already have the other 3.

That’s not how I remember it at all, he wrote the cannabible first covering mostly classic varieties, then released the 2nd and 3rd volumes over the years. The original Cannabible I bought when first released almost 20 years ago was no different from what’s being sold as the cannabible 1 now, if he released a “big book” that has all three wrapped in one it was later.

A quite look at the book description on the publishers website it clearly describes #2 and #3 as the follow up to the original Cannabible.

If anyone has any links to the “big” cannabible I’d be interested to see it as I didn’t come across any in a quick search.
