The Spice must grow. Blessed be the Little Maker!

Ahh Sony, I have the Canon EOS R5. Need to get myself a macro lens. Smallest lens I have is 85mm.

Those Sony cameras are solid. I would love to shoot video on one. The low light capability for those are the best.

Macros are fun. I have a Canon 100mm L series macro that I love to bits. But for Sony I use their 90mm G. Nice lens.

Handheld macro shots are easy… It’s entirely up to you if you want to breathe… :joy:

Tent today

Nightowls in back row are on day 59. front row are

WXxGG4 chugging along.

WC f2 flowers are beginning to form. I’ll start the pk books once shes done stretching.

I’ve used this method with 5 plants. so far they have all been very short plants. I’d say genetics but I don’t think so. Maybe it is a well suited method for small spaces.WC is a leggy plants.

However, for all I know it’s just stunting the plants. :joy:

Nightowls (left) day 62 ish. Going to switch to Jack’s Finish this weekend.

Right side near day 40. starting to form flowers. Switching to ultraviolet as soon as they slow stretch.

It’s a Monday, folks.

Sunday morning update.
Nightowls on left, day 67-ish, personal crosses on right day 43ish

Nightows were switched to Jack’s FINISH and the buds are just getting tighter.

Definite purpling on the Mango. not so much on the spotless mind.

the WC f2 on top is absolutely lousy with buds and shes bee stretching. I think I’ll pollinate a branch soonish and switch to Jack’s UV feed for a couple of weeks.

the shorter, 2 gallon fabric pot seems to perform better than the spiky monstrosity I mangled the nightowls into. plus a lot simpler to make/use.

Greetings @SaintAliasKnife, I just finished this thread from top to bottom and want to congratulate you on some great grows. I especially appreciate your detailed notes on the octopup experience. I’m gearing up for a four pot setup as soon as my grow room updates are done.

If you don’t mind I’d like to ask about your idea that the shorter fabric pots are letting the roots hit the rez quicker? I purchased 3-gallon fabric pots that fit snugly on the octopup base and aren’t much taller than the 1 or 2 gal. In testing they seem to wick nicely and make a shorter & quicker path for roots to reservoir.

I’m also curious about how you handled water in the initial transplant. I’ve read elsewhere that the initial top watering should be modest, probably just enough to allow time for the roots to find the reservoir? Is that what you did? Also, how full did you keep the reservoir for the first couple of weeks? I wonder if keeping it lower would make the roots continue stretching.

Your WC f2 looks pretty magnificent and I love the number of budsites that your cropping/LST produced.

I hope I’m not pestering with questions, thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

Regards,
-Grouchy

Hi Grouchy! that’s my nickname sometimes too lol sure, I’ll answer in order:

pot size.
the franken-pots in made are 12 tall and 8 wide. so 2.61gall in total volume. round down to 2.5.
the 2 gallon fabric pots are 8 tall by 8 and half wide. probably a little less than 2 gall filled.

the 2 gallons plants hit the water a week ahead of the 2.5gallon and are overall more developed.

I tried to keep the soil density similar. both were watered with seedling strength water. left to drain, then
plants were put in at the same time from germ at around 12-14 days. then watered 0.5gall each with the same nutrient water to drain.

I filled the pots to the 3/4 gallon line so the netcup touched tap water. when the roots hit water I replaced it with nutrient water at netcup touching level (~3/4gal) in the rez. as the plant drank I let it drink almost all then refilled to the 1/2 gallon mark for a period then to the 3/4 for a period. cyclically…idea was to make roots reach for the water.

When the plant hit 5 nodes I switched to regular feed. the Wedding cake f2 if getting lanky!! I think I want to pollinate a branch or two in a week, by that time the WCxGG4 should be able to accept it too. I wasnt gentle with the LST but I gotta learn somehow.
