Have you tried putting a towel between the mat and cloner?
Got a replacement/ smaller mat.
Not sure if the six in rockwool cubes are going to make it due to being halfway boiled but I’m letting them decide.
Got another cutting, dressed with root hormone and right into pH 6 water.
Thanks @Tejas for the idea about the towel
Update: all the clippings are, unsurprisingly, dead.
The mother plant has been in 12/12 for about a week now and still not getting a lot of stretch.
Today I replaced the bulky USB fan with a small 24v fan that can be operated by my controller.
Getting the USB fan out of the way allowed me to remount my light rails higher up, giving me another ~10cm of distance from plant to lights.
I’m hoping that by moving the lights up as far as they will go it might induce the plant to fill out a little more.
As she’s starting to bloom, a little bit of last minute LST to get the side-buds to fill the space a little better
Watered & trimmed a few fan leaves. Pulled the LST stems back a bit more. Overall looking good and starting to flower nicely.
Very interesting set up, nice and organized, I like it
Wow that lady has stayed so squat through the stretch. Did you take any more cuttings?
No, just the original 7.
She’s stretching a little but for whatever reason she’s not filling up the space much. I topped her one time & other than that just LST to keep her side branches low and wide.
I think having the lights so close is a factor.
The ones that got roasted? Bummer.
Your training is lookin good
Thanks! TBH I’m on the fence about topping. On the one hand it does help the plant utilize the space; on the other hand it also seems to slow the plant down.
Day 16 of 12/12:
Showing a little upward stretch esp the two tops and lots of bud sites across the whole plant.
Day 20 of 12/12. Bud sites developing a little further:
Top leaves showing some distress that confuses me: burning and curling tips suggest N overload but leaves are not green, they’re lightly yellowed. Any advice?
Looks like normal fade to to me. Gonna be
margins on the top leaves are also yellowing and some minor spotting, top leaves would indicate a more recent change, check your runoff on your next watering gonna guess you may be going high ec wise and pH may be going low
Thanks for the advice @Mr.Sparkle! What if I told you that last watering was a week ago and I gave it almost no nutes and runoff was low EC low TDS and about 6.7 pH (because I was concerned about the curling tips I assumed excess N and so gave pHed water w/ less than a 1/4 dose of 3-4-4). Could that also cause it?
