Tips for plants while on vacation

Hello all,

I will be out of town for a week and am wondering what tips you would suggest for plant care?

I have two plants in a tent that will be 5 weeks into the flowering stage when I leave. The lights are on an auto timer, 12 hours on 12 off but I do not have a watering system. My current plan is to soak them before I leave and maybe add water to the trays they sit in? Also, should I keep them in the dark longer than 12 hours?

As always, thanks for your help!

What size pots are the plants in, what’s your medium, and also what is the thought process behind changing the lighting schedule?
With regard to water, an extra hour of darkness isn’t going to make a difference.
Water in the tray isn’t a good idea either, as you’re likely to massively over water and drown them.
I’ve left fully watered plants, in flower, for 5 days (5 gallon pots), but they were in bad shape when I got home
Best possible option IMO: Get someone to plant sit

An inch of water in the tray should buy you an extra day.

Pot size and medium is needed to answer bud. I stopped growing over summer to avoid this very issue.

Get someone who knows what they are doing or can follow istructions carefully, it’s the best option so long as they are not stupid lol. They would only have to water once probably depending on your medium they are growing in.

Thanks all! I am in a non legal state and am pretty hesitant to let anyone know about my hobby.

I might give those water globes a go…

Search DIY Water Wicking System

There are a number of methods that will work well. Some examples:

This should work, or there is bulmats, or even timer and drippers.

You can use a bottle like @Dr.VitaminGreen suggested also, they are all good solutions.

Pick one that best fits your lifestyle.

I think it is hempy buckets, or passive plant killer or both that are designed right from the start to be wick feeders.

Good luck!
