I am looking for some new seeds to work with, looking for some keepers.
Last days scrolling trough so many seedbanks and websites.
Maybe it is easier to ask you overgrowers, what is your latest banger.
We all know the standard list, loaded with crystals like it has been snowing, fast trimmer, rock hard buds, good bag appeal, terps that even go trough 4 ziplocks…
Tell me your latest banger and why it is a banger.
The lack of smoking attributes in that list is a little concerning. I grow for a small commercial producer that is mainly focused on what you have listed. We pop a lot of LIT Farms, Seed Junky, Cookies, Bloom Seed Co…the hype breeders. We do find really nice plants, but we also sift through a lot of just “good” plants to find them. Much easier to find great production and bag appeal characteristics than it is to find the best of the best smoker in those packs.
My most recent favorites from my own growing are hybrids of OG, and hashplants. The OGs have the ability to produce hype quality flowers with an amazing punch. The hashplants unfortunately are just amazing smoke but will usually be too leafy for commercial production.
My last keeper was a Bluerry headband from emerald triangle. Big hard Bud. Full of trichromes and a very (sometimes problematic) big smell of sour diesel with a hint of blueberry. Marvellous. Was a keeper for the Bud quality but also because she’s very mould resistant
And it was very expected
How many seeds had you planted and what percentage was good?
I mis this kind of information on this forum. And on the other hand this is something about seeds business now adays that nearly nobody talks about. Everything is so not stable. And why is that? I dont understand if you cross fire genetics x fire genetics, every plant should be fire in some way. How is t possible that there is most times 9 garbage and 1 good plant in their packs??
I could be saying this wrong but I believe it is when a similar but not the same F1 pheno is mixed in with the rest of your stable, F1’s, your genetics become contaminated with variants. I could be way off but that was my understanding.
And this is for all kinds of house. I remember some Shiva Skunk from Sensi, and there was a lot of different phenomenon (one great 45days ready and grapefruit tast ). For me, is more interesting to have 10 phenotype on 10 seeds. But I’m looking for some different phenotype to cross it. Imagine crossing with always the same phenotype, each breeders can do the same, no surprise on seeds pack to cross something special…
Otherwise, why pay for 10 seeds (sometimes 15$ each) to grow 10 similar girl? Buy one or 5 and cut it. Second thing to me, is that we are exactly fighting this “stabilised” era in food industry. In France, you can’t sell seeds (tomatoes etc) before they show at least 90 or 95% the same phenotype. Sad isn’t?
Just my point of view.
As you say, currently, “all” genetics are fire, but some are FIRE
I don’t remember how many seeds was dropped, but close to 5 I think. Or maybe less. The strain that i had keep was very close to what I can see about this strain on the web. I’m almost sure that is a good stabilised one.
