I picked up the Black Swallow Kelp, Re-amendment pack (instead of the Bloom for now) and their Seedling soil mix for a try.
Nice! Looking forward to seeing how you like it. My brother @estab87 turned me onto black swallow (he’s on hiatus out EAST atm) and has had exceptional results with autos using their products. I’m gonna put together an order and just save up for it I think, my other issue is I want to try with either 2 or 4 big ass beds in a 4 x4 or possibly just create an area from panda film for them. But I know I need at least 6-8 bags, plus whatever amendments. I’ll probably order where I can get free shipping as I contacted them about it and for that, amendments and all etc. they still wanted me to pay shipping (38$) and wait 12 days for delivery until a truck came this way . They are about (45 mins from my house)
Wow. That sounds like a grand plan. Would involve a ‘no till’ approach?
Starshine got the to when it revealed its manliness.
The others in the 12/12 tent are all girls. Zamaldelica and the two smaller Syrians.
In the seedling/veg tent, two Harlequin (5:2) for a planned seed increase. In the solo cup, Blimburn Silver Surfer Haze and Canuck Durban Poison, both fems.
My Zamaldelica hermied.
I noticed that my Hempy plants seemed weaker and leaves slightly wrinkled across all strains. This never happened a few years ago when I was them in 2 1/2 pails.
The only significant change was adding the silica. So, I recall that Black Swallow’s website when mixed into the water and nuts, it needs to be used in 4 hours. No problem I thought, but…the Hempy’s all have a standing liquid in the bottoms. And 2 solo cups with no reservoir, are doing well with the silica.
So I’m pivoting to soil, except for one test 2L pop bottle with no silica.
That’s the best plan I could come up with.
My first @Tappy style pop bottle grow with amended soil, top to bottom.
Silver Surfer Haze (Blimburn) sprouted over night. Planted the seed laying flat 3/8" into the soil three days ago.
Nice! Awesome
I can’t believe I’ve missed almost 10 days of updates …well, I’m here now…lol.
Gonna touch on a bunch of posts…lol
First, the tea…lol. Wife and I are making some butter tomorrow. Adding some extra herb during decarb to keep in a jar by the teas and coffee…gonna give that a try!
Too bad about the herm and starshine male male.
But awesome about the zam and syrian ladies!! I’m interested to see those/that syrian(s) in full flower (can’t remember if you have more than 1 left).
Bizarre about that black swallow silica. Is that just with organic nutes/silica you have to use within 4 hours? Glad to hear you’ve made changes when you saw the plants in distress.
…and I see some 2 liters!!..lol. you’re going to love using them. Being able to bottom feed is super nice. And once the plants are big and need lots of water, that little reserve at the bottom is a lifesaver! I usually leave the triangle tab on the bottle…only making 2 cuts in this shape /\ and leave the bottom part connected. When you dunk the bottle in water to bottom feed, it keeps the soil in and won’t lose a bunch in the water.
Are you doing 12/12 from seed? Cause those 2 liters fill in really fast!
Have a good one! Keep the updates coming!!
I was sure I read that the product had to be used within 4 hours after mixing. I been known to conflate information. Perhaps it was another product description somewhere. I checked BlackSwallow and Urban Grow’s websites not there. This is my life now at 62. . Oh well, my plants seem happier so that’s what matters.
Thanks for the tips!
Happy New Year, @TricycleOfDoom . Sorry to hear about the Zamdelica. I love the upcycled gear, though. Sounds like you’ve got a good plan on testing the variables and solving your troubles. The Harlequin are looking like a strong start! Good luck!
All the best to you and yours this year. I hope you have plenty to look back on fondly and plenty more in store to make the memories you keep closest.
Stay up, bro.
Coffin_Dodger
Thank for those encouraging words @Coffin_Dodger . May you have a great 2024.
Can’t believe I didn’t comment on this one and only left a .
Outstanding!!! Look great for 6 weeks from flip!! These are probably long gone now , but a solid congrats on a successful grow felt in order!
Beautiful!
You too friend!!
I was decluttering and found these Air Pot knockoff’s from China on Amazon. I ordered 1.5 gal, but they sent me 3 gal. I tried to return them to Amazon, but when I printed out the shipping label the address was in China and said “Postage Required”.
The seller argued that there was nothing wrong with them. Then offered me a discount of $10, so I took it. 10 x 3 gal pot for 20 bucks. But lately I want to grow in smaller pots so…
I realized I could just use one sheet for 2.75 Litre.
I could make 20 of them, but holding off for now. The inside 5" x 9".
Kind of reminds me of those Tree Pots.
Very cool! Now I want some
Ugh…shipping stuff back to China is such a money burn. Wild that they gave you a bigger product and then argue with you about it…lol…good score though!
I’ve seen people run those airports with coco and have rootballs look like a pot of fat noodle pancit! can’t even see the coco, just noodley-roots.
A weekend update…
Started some Love Bud (L.A. Porn Star x Angel '98). Just in coco & perlite and only put the seeds in flat and they popped about 4 days later. I seem to be branching out into some Indica lately, while I wait for an MRI appointment for my eff’d shoulder.
Here in the center is a Durban Poison from a single seed purchased locally last November.
On the wings are two Harlequin (5:2), for a planned seed increase.
All 3 are in coco & perlite hempy style.
Silver Surfer Haze, in 1 gal with coco and perlite.
And finally the 1 of 3 Syrians I started out with. This one is a stunted survivor from overwatering; 1 gal in living soil.
That’s all I have growing at the movement.
The one I started recently in 2L bottle with amended soil also didn’t make it after I didn’t LTFA. After I get back from TO, I’ll start again with some CBD hemp strains and figure it out my over watering problem once an for all. I have over 100 beans, and practice/experimenting not overwatering.
