Understanding breeding, how to achieve the best an strongest high, false beliefs an inbreeding depresion

I don’t mind helping if anybody needs help. I love breeding and I’m trying to learn a lot. I’m currently reading about @Budderton doing afghani work.

Great info on @Budderton topics , love it

yep— too much inbreeding (crossing and re-crossing offspring and parents)
eventually causes some genetic problems if SOME other genetics from a different plant (usually the same strain or one of the original strains used in the genetics- just different parents) are introduced…
I see that in some of our neighbors…LMAO!!

Yeah they are noisy Af. Plus that shed hair. You will be like wtf. They have an undercoat like a mastiff breed. I prefer shorthair dogs.

What strains do you grow. Or prefer to grow.

Every morning i come out…bring out my light dep, and assess that very question lol. I have
Cherry malawi(kos) x rainbow flame (greenfire)
Strawberry shortcake x TK Bx1
Trop Cookies (oni) x cherry malawi
Jungle boys WC x Seed junky WC f4’s
Mel frank GDP x DJ short old time moonshine
And a grape kush line. Im heavy in the malawi because a few sativa plants went through autumn frosts like a champ here in texas. So im digging thru that line for better yield. The WC is just lung and brain candy ive never had better, so that’s gonna get worked to death.
Just now getting into the mel frank GDP.
Oh and i have OG Chem stuff but im just taking a look at that for the time being.even if its dank flower i cant do everything

Everything sounds lovely. I have a couple of wc crosses but the only one I grew out is lit farms bad decisions. I ended up with 2 females. One smells like wc but sour and gassy. The other seems to be some chem blend without any cake likeness too it. Talking about pretty. I hear many say it smokes good and they like it, so I decided to give it a chance.
It also has some gdp and gelato in it. So it’s going to be interesting to see how they finish in the terp departs.
My plans are to breed into an ing buttermilk biscuits/ Nympho cross for added power and a blueberry nymph cross for richer flavor. Will probably do a secondary crossing to bulk up some as well because the blueberry are very small indica statue.

ha ha ha. In order to tell people how Landrace were, you need to have smoked many 70s Thai, 70s Indonesian, 70s Columbian,70s Congolese… first generation Seeds directly from Source.

LOL didnt you say youve never done it

That is a wrong believe, unless Tastes are indivdual, and they are, and some persons percieve Weed very differently. However to make statments for us all, you have to make the statement that Landraces CAN BE (ARE) ultimatively potent.

Not looking to piss or shove or grudge my brother.
I said “unworked landrace” as in the ditch weed type.
Not gonna argue about what potency is to you or anyone else. You are right when you said I don’t speak for everyone else because I don’t speak for anyone but me. That’s why I used the pronoun “ I “. I as in my thoughts and theories……
So please direct those g13’s where they are more needed.
Maybe we will get to smoke one day so we can truely understand one another’s perspective.
Maybe you can explain the potency of that you are referring too, as well as where I can pick up a pack of seeds so I can see for myself.

your breeding tactics, to not steer the Breed by selection, rather then Lineage is what i like too.

I want one day combine multiple strains from the same Region, to find the best combination… If one Line is a bit of a softie but deep and sweet, i try to find a more present type of Line that makes for a better high than just one line alone. I hope that works, but its the way i will work. Of corse selection is needed to prevent them to revert back to wild, weak weed…
Much like the open pollination approach, that was mentioned previously…
I mean multiple Plants kept, just like one forth of the plants culled… and 3/4 kept. Thats how i would breed if i ever will.

Its like resonance…I dont like this word, but i think it matches…Some lines combine well, some dont.

I totally agree with you brother. I’m pretty sure I covered some of the same info you just mentioned…. Maybe I didn’t.
Seems like an interesting project. How long have you been working on it and what are your thoughts on it so far.
What do you think your creation needs to be complete or advance to the level that you are looking for.

i mean, one CAN steer Breeds by selection, but only by Landscape / Terroir you shape breeds in a complex manner THATS MY OPPINION. Or atleast not without the Terroir…

If you think about it, Cannabis is a plant. If you now place it in a Climate that has not brought up the most LEgendary Landraces, like say in Russia you breed… IF you think about it, a Species may have things that she likes… Cannabis likes it warm, it likes it rather moist than dry…You see she likes this or that… But i guess it goes much deeper . factors that one cant see that she likes or not… And now you select in a “Growroom” or too cold climate… And think you will upp potency…
But you breed Plants to much northern, she dislikes some things, not dying, but dislikes it… And the Phenos THAT express well in that subpar Climate would therefore be weird phenos that accept things that Cannabis finds weird …

To each their own in preferred smoke.
Just like you told me, you can’t tell me what I like.
Cannabis has a general effect on people that we all have come to recognize. But then It has an acute effect that more native to that individual and how his particular body responds to the chemical compounds.
Another thing brother… adaptation begins immediately in any life form. Things that you take for granted, like putting on a jacket or wearing sunglasses are examples of immediate adaptations.
Purpling, red stems, dropping leaves due to lack of light are all form of adapting to the environment.
The funny thing about dna brother is that we get it from our parents… who got it from their parents… so on and so on… dna carry the code for survival of the species who have overcame a multitude of adversity in the past. So they know how to adapt and do so very quickly. See how fast the plant stop their leave when the lights goes down. See how they preemptively adjust to lights off by lowering their leave before the lights are even turned off. Another form of immediate adaptation. There are many.
If you move to Paris right now will breathing be any more difficult? Maybe due to the altitude. But it’s not life threatening, nor due it cause reduced performance. Plants are very good at gathering all the necessary nutrients that it needs without human help.
Anyway there are too many variable to solely judge a plant only by its geographical location. I feel that you are under thinking your view point because your plants are thriving even though they aren’t in their native environment. Or maybe I’m under looking something.
You underestimate my work brother. Unfamiliarity has that effect on people. You are doing the same thing that you told me not to do.
Conversations like these are neither productive, nor do they serve any purpose but to undermine the understanding of fellow members.
I assure you that not what I’m here for.
Please wait until you sample my smoke before making any more unsubstantiated judgements about my work. It’s shows poor character brother. I’ll rather smoke and stay civil than criticize something that I don’t understand. Peace :v:

jesus… i was uncivil?, i have not the slightes idea what you mean, but anyway.

But yes, i in my oppining, (i think i labelled it as only Theory) your Breed may have able to be steered in a meaningful way . trough breeding it in Legendary Region like Thailand IF you were about to change your Breed trough selection.¨And that was an Oppinion.

Our posts are hillarious, haha

This is one of the more ‘practically useful’ papers I have found so far. I just wish they and most of the other papers went into more detail on how the various parameters are measured and recorded. In a constant hunt for measurement methods/tools that don’t require $ or sending out material.

This is in reference to this link. “The characterization of key physiological
traits of medicinal cannabis (Cannabis sativa L.)
as a tool for precision breeding” 2021 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8235858/pdf/12870_2021_Article_3079.pdf
