The blending thing I get from the past when all this was done to avoid incarceration so certain steps needed to be taken. Now the genetics by and large hybrid stuff is going through the degeneration part, people now want something better. They think there is a Merlo, Champagne, or whatever just need to find the genetics to make it happen.
I am growing Freak Chunk, Romulan, the black. I grow this for my friends and myself but trying to breed with the hybrids arenāt where it is at for me. Blank Slate with the SE Asian is where I am leaning since I can grow outside from middle April to end of November and longer with greenhouse. Mind you this isnāt set in stone for need more grows and experience. Who knows someone might have a better plan just need more people to make happen

Like you said and others looking for something that burns clean, long and gives us something unique. Why not, make a plan put all steps in place and achieve!

Yes, the genetics side. The clones dont carry the trifoliate morphology in regrowth, but it does carry the genes that did that, and they are unique, not vanilla genetics. You can breed that thing, with many different strains and maybe win the lottery, who knows.
Thatās exactly where im at, and itās exciting. I also have a quadrafoliate (tetraploid) and the guy i talk to says i can possibly create triploids/trifoliates by crossing the tetra with a diploid. Pretty crazy huhā¦idk i just found them, just now going down this pathā¦but dont listen to anyone that tells you your plant is sterile.

About open pollination
For a seed increase, ābulkingā
You work with what you got. Usually older seeds, lower germ rates, discontinued lines, too few to really hunt. Ideally you wouldnāt cull anything until numbers permit it.
For preservation
Best case scenario, you have plenty of f1 on hand. If not, refer to bulking. You grow as many as you can, 100 being considered sufficient for probabilities to be on your side. Again, you should not cull anythingā¦ some weirdo, hermie or runts may be carrying important genes that could give rise to exceptional phenos further down the line.
Every time you op 100, you may lose something or swerve the line in an unfavorable direction. For that reason, preservation runs should be limited to once every 10 years(to refresh stock) so not to accelerate degradation.
Parallel to this, you can keep clones of superior specimen and try to breed toward a specific pheno or 3 
And remember Iām just a dude with a watering can lol. Im no breeding guruā¦

Well they say mules were sterile but not true just donāt breed true. Clone that stuff how many times you hear I wish I had that back. Just need to be patient and wait for the opportunity to present itself. HA wants to breakout of the hybrid vigor state and into something beyond just heterosis and if you can super collide it into maybe this is not the right term āmutationā then all Bueno.
I have been wanting to know if we can get past this bottle neck in breeding and this makes sense.

I just wanna make sure the terminology is correct here 
Trifoliate = 3 leaves or nodes of leaves
Tetrafoliate = 4 leaves or nodes of leaves
Triploid = 3 Chromosomes
Tetraploid = 4 Chromosomes
More nodes just means it has a mutation for more nodes. Can definitely breed and continue this trait.
More chromosomes usually means sterility, tho not always, and has nothing to do with leaves or nodes. Plants could look totally normal. Need Flow Cytometry to find this out.

I complain about cookies because IMO itās garbage overhyped mids and Iām not gonna bother wasting my time doing anything with it and I wish others could recognize it for what it is. If you think cookies is any way good, you need to try more herb.
And why would I bother breeding my actually good flower to that? What would be the benefit from that cross? Iād much rather cross great with great, not great to trash. Donāt assume what you donāt know

Your preference are your own and I respect that.
I generally fell the same way as you do about the cookies. Thatās why I cross it. But I will say that the strains are getting better.
Rather a person choose to work with them or not has no bearing on what I do. Just like i donāt know why you are breeding, you donāt know what Iām breeding. There is too much generalizations when it comes to strains when everyone know that there are multiple cuts available. Peace.

I donāt breed to dominate another plant genetics. It about combining with them to make something more exciting.
I havenāt breed to the oaxaca yet. But soon as space permits I will. And Iāll happily share the results.
Dj shorts used the oaxaca in the creation of blueberriy and it shows. I see the same mutation that are in the blueberry in the oaxaca. So the heritage is definitely there.

But, this little tidbit about selfing a male and then phenohunting the s1/s2 females it producesā¦ I guess it turned the whole thing around for me, I feel like Iām seeing it from the inside out! Thanks for making me thinking a little harder than usual lol.
Thereās a breeder around here whoās big on keeping males and hunting them too. Maybe his good vibes and good seed will help push me in the right direction.
