Vernal's Basement Follies

Most supplements are minimally effective at best or a total waste of money at worst. Triacontanol is great, however. I recommend using a concentrated one part multi-supplement over kelp, though.

Further, you can buy Triacontanol powder and polysorbate 20 to make a lifetime supply of Tria supplement for next to nothing. It is very powerful.

But is it safe? (asking ignorantly but innocently :innocent:)

Appparently there’s a banned synthetic version? I kow PGRs are generally something to avoid :skull_and_crossbones: but not all… auxin/gibberelins?

Looks handy for those Dr Grinspoon Bamboo sativas. :smirk:

All powerful tools require caution.

That being said, don’t hork up rails of the stuff Motley Crue-style and you’ll be fine.

Yes, it is safe. It is just a plant hormone. PGR’s get a bad rap because paclobutrazol, which used to be in a bunch of “flower hardeners” generally made giant buds that weren’t very good. That being said, I believe that had a little to do with those types of growers cutting corners elswewhere and the fact that wholesale pounds were 4K at the time.

Buy a bottle of Grow More Jump Start. Worst case Ontario you’re out $25. It really is a great product.

Hey man. How do prevent breeding males from pollinating your other flowering plants? How do you isolate them? Have a fine day @vernal!
Just popped 5 Captains Cake/Scott’s OG. Those are yours aren’t they?

Well, that is a deal breaker for sure!

They are indeed. Cut came from Growhard, tossed it in with the male for shits and gigs. To answer your question, I didn’t isolate them, just run a male in with the females. Might as well make a lot of seeds if you’re gonna make seeds. Those came out pretty well despite it just being a dickaround project.

Mango Haze x Snow Lotus BX1 by @GrowHard at 50 days. I am hoping to harvest at or before 75 days.

Starting to really get a hazy scent; we’ll see how she finishes! Still the favorite of the run.

This is the more chemdog '91 structure of the SKVA Chem '91 x Afkansastan/X18 Pakistani. No nanners to be found on this plant. Smelly, not as loud as her sister, but still smelly. This one should be done at 63 days. Her sister will probably do 60 days. Bud looks really primo on this one, honestly better looking than her sister, just not quite as fragrant. I still prefer my TK x G13HP more for a kushy hashplant, but these are for sure worth growing. Anything from Doc D is worth growing.

Haley Piff cut at 56 days. Run her til maybe 67 days? This plant is so dank.

Mango Haze x Snow Lotus BX1 by @GrowHard at 56 days. I don’t see this one going past 70.

Everything else chugging right along just impatiently waiting for the flowers to ripen so I can begin a new cycle.

Oh, and here’s the SKVA Chem '91 x Afkansastan/X18 Pakistani. Whew. Smelly. Probably gonna do 67 days on this one.

The other Chem '91 SKVA x Afkansastan/X18 Pakistani gal at 57 days. Reeks just like chem. Starting to get knobby like the 91 cut.

Bandaid Haze IX 3.0 at 57 days. Will probably harvest at 11 weeks. Nice haze plant. Not as nice as her purple sister, so this one wasn’t kept.

Yeah a nice male from the Cheetos would be worth keeping around if you had the space

I didn’t end up keeping a male, but I have 2 females about to go into flower shortly.

If either ends up being amazing I’ll find her a Bandaid Haze male suitor.

The Chem 91 SkVA cut x Afkansastan/X18 Pakistani by Doc D Seeds. Both at 63 days, will harvest in 2 days. I can see a couple immature beans in the bud, hope they didn’t catch too much pollen. Maybe those Chem nanners weren’t 100% sterile after all. Still some outrageously dank bud. Bottom picture is the more Chem '91 dominant pant, but the one on top is the really smelly girl.

Bandaid Haze IX 3.0 (last female from the parent stock) at 64 days. Will probably harvest in 2 weeks. Another excellent plant, though it wasn’t kept. Only Mango Haze x Snow Lotus BX was kept from this round.

Some bubble! This is mixed 73 and 25u first 2 pulls. Crazy melty. Full melt, semi-clear dome.

I used 1 gallon of fresh frozen Chem 91 x Afghani/X18 lowers, and 1/2 gallon of dry trim from all the plants.

The next 2 pulls were a bit greener and is semi-melt grade. Got maybe 1/2 oz total I’ll be set on hash for the duration of this quarantine haha.

Bandaid Haze IX 3.0 #5 at just under 11 weeks, gonna run to 12. This appears to be the Cuban Black Haze expression. This plant was a clone, if it were a seed plant it would need 13 weeks. Very woody, musty. It is beginning to foxtail and fluff out. I don’t usually flush plants, just cut back at the end as nutritional needs diminish, but the foxtailing is significant so this is just getting pH’d water currently and hopefully it should finish up with a nice golden fade. Not keeping it, I still like my purple #8 plant better, but she’s still wonderful.

Here’s a few of the lower buds from the SkVA '91 x Afkan/X18. Very skunky. It smells like straight chemdog with a bit of pond mud. Very nice, another stellar offering from Doc D. There’s a couple seeds here and there, found 4-5 obvious ones so far, some of those nanners it threw must have had viability haha.

Some early harvest Bandaid Haze branches. Bandaid needed 2 weeks longer than everything else last flower round, and it’s still 5 days from harvest. I took a few tall branches from the top, to allow more light and space to the other plants now in flower, and so I could get the light closer. She’s at 80 days currently, these were harvested around 74.

This is the haziest of 5 females from the original 11 pack. I set this one aside because it was definitely the tallest and narrowest of the females, and that I wouldn’t want to breed with it, but I couldn’t bear to kill her either. She has the most open structure to the buds, and could probably still push pistils to 100 days, but I’ll harvest the full plant at 85, she just needs a little more time for the lowers to chunk up. Her buds are very fluffy, more a pile of calyxes than a solid nug. Very nice and frosty, though. Does that thing where it almost looks like a string of pearls on some buds.

Sounds like it’s going to be a great one even if it pushes a little long

Tropical genes are weird…you just harvest when the law of diminishing returns kick in or another plant has been vegging too long needs the space…in my case, both are true. Figure 85 days 11/13 from clone is done enough, tops aren’t doing much but throwing more foxtails, bottoms need some time.

The plant that’s replacing it is gonna be a monster though haha. It was the slowest chunkiest plant but it’s gonna have 3 extra weeks of veg so we’ll see what it does it’s Afghani #1 x Super Silver Haze F3.
