Watering solution for guerrilla grow 🌱

Might be handy to take good care of our :seedling:. The system is cheap and simple: you dig a hole near the plant big and wide enough to put inside a 1 liter bottle (you previously cut the top) filled with water

Then you firmly cover it with a 5 liter bottle you previously cut the bottom. Sun will evaporate the water that will condensate (nowhere to go) and fall in the earth. Roots of the plant will find it easily, no water loss (you can put some mulching around the plant to help retaining humidity). Then just removing the lid and filling the bottle, don’t know how long between watering but sure it helps … beer3|nullxnull

Shiny plastic no good for guerilla, but could paint it black…

There’s also those terra cotta vases you can put in the ground up to the neck, they slowly release the water through their porous walls. Saves a lot more water compared to watering onto the soil.

Companioncrops providing shade are our friends.
Always make sure no bare soil is visible anywhere, grass is great too as it has shallow roots and harvests dew, and makes it difficult for slugs.
I notice toads, frogs, lizards love tall grass, and they eat caterpilars and just about anything that is smaller than them.

I have never done this, but I was told that it worked pretty well.
Paint a 2 liter bottle black, fill it with water, lay it on its side.
Poke a small hole in the cap.

When the sun heats up the water it will pressureize and start to come out the hole in the cap.
I think only half of the vessel is usable, after you get below the hole on the cap you loose the water pressure.
It would seem a vessel more like a cylinder may be a better choice, it would empty the vessel almost completely.
But 2 liter bottles are easy to come by.

Also instead of just black, take a few shades of paint like green grey and brown.
Spray or dab some on a small branch with leaves still on it and just tap the vessel with the paint covered branch to give a very natural camo look.

Don’t get too crazy, go very light on the colors.
You only need a little color to break up the solid black, otherwise the eye will pick up on the shape and outline, just a few lines here and there to mess with the eyes and brain.
