Watering time: dawn or lights out?

Just curious on the feeling here as to feeding time. I was feeding at the end of the light cycle and have been given info that says opposite. Feed in the morning within an hour of “sunup” and the ladies will be much happier! I am curious what y’all are doing?

I prefer to water first thing in the morning, so the pots have time to equilibrate before dark, and any excess will have time to evaporate.
During the night cycle in my grow room, temps drop consistently, so there’s no chance of evaporation after dark. If your room was climate controlled it might not be as big a deal as I make it.

@DiggySoze That makes sense, I am a noob when it comes to growing. I have been an avid consumer for 30 years though. Lately knowing what I am using + how it is raised sparked an unknown obsession lol. Been to a lot of sites researching the science. I really like the structure and group Dynamics here! Thanks for the feedback, I am looking forward to the input and getting to know the group.

the way I understand it, is the stomata open up when the lights come on and close when they go off. So I’d say best time is when ya turn the lights on, so they can feed better

I like the morning feeding personally, but mist the leaves at evening time with a foliar spray

After 1 hour of lights on , when plants are fully awake and ready for it : )
If fed just befor lights out then the plants will just be sitting overnite in a wet pot till next day causing problems

Reality. While I’m thinking early in the day, it doesn’t seem to actually occur until late afternoon.

Well I would say I need to change my routine a bit there. Thanks for the wisdom everyone! @Northern_Loki @Fishface @ifish and @DiggySoze

Here is a pic of my 1st attempt before they were taken down to soil by the mousketeers :face_vomiting:

New setup started 4-06 and will be posting on OG for feedback

It’s a team show and I was not happy with setup from the beginning… Now I have been given authority to demo and setup my way  9 White Widow Auto, and 4 White Widow females in a tight 6x6 space for another day or so anxiously waiting for their new 10 x 12 sterile, home with space to reach for the Stars lol

Im not consistent, it depends but I’d prefer to water shortly after lights come on but it doesnt always work out that way.

I do mornings but only because it is more convenient.

This latest grow, I switched to feeding before lights out, and I’m noticing some inconsistent, over watering issues. I’ll change it around asap! Thanks

They don’t care much about when and how, just as long as the media is adeuately moist at all times with proper pH and nutrients. Blumats water a single drop at a time, essentially constantly. I tend to flood pots all at once every couple days. Plants don’t mind either.

I water/feed in the morning. I would feed them in the evening but they’ve already eaten.

I always try to water the first couple of hours in the morning. It’s a good habit to get in because it helps reduce humidity when in flower. During lights on most of your excess will evaporate. Big buds don’t like a lot of humidity. Learning not to over water is just as important.

I dont see why it would matter other than possibly the evaporation/humidity issue @Bullskinner mentioned.

Remember that in nature, rain occurs any old time it wants. Plus, those of us running hydro “water” the plants 24/7 and that seems to work just fine

I can make a terrible mess when I water sometimes…lol. Especially when the grow room is to full

It don’t make no diff, you’re correct

I think consistancy is more important than the time of day.
