Watering time: dawn or lights out?

Found this little nugget.

If your plant is sitting in medium that is too wet during lights out, another process called “guttation” may takeover in place of “transpiration”, which only happens during lights on.

Transpiration is when a plant removes excess water from its roots and releases it as “vapor” through stomata located all over the plant, but mainly on the undersides of leaves.

Guttation is when a plant removes excess water from its roots and releases it as “droplets” through hydathodes located along leaf edges.
