Welcome To DaFozz's Den

That’s understandable, there’s no denying that the stuff works though!

And their premixed soils suck. Plant looks great for a month or two then weird deficiencies show up, then you feed them and have too much of some things and not enough of others.

It definitely works! However, I haven’t seen the best results on people using it on cannabis in here. I’m surprised you have gotten good results.

The problem is MG is time released and doesn’t work well with the cannabis lifecycles.

Joke??? What joke??? Hell, this is what I used to use when I was doing my small guerrilla grows 10-15 years ago… easy to carry, and mix out in the woods when you have a water source close by… Hahaha…

But yeah, I’m over it… I said what I had to say, and my “potty mouth” tends to come out a bit quicker when I deal with condescending pricks. I won’t use MC anymore, because personally, I’m not too impressed… Don’t get me wrong, it does work, but there are issues, and even a “novice fake grower” and troll like myself can see that… but each to their own…

I think I will just use the General Organics Biothrive and CaMg+, and SoloTek bloom for now… It seemed to work out pretty good on The Fuzz 2 I had, and actually looked healthier throughout it’s growth than the MC Fuzz imo… and with the TDS meter to help me along, I think I will be all right…

I think I am actually trending towards organics anyways, and try and get away from using bottled nutes… Partway through reading “Teaming With Microbes” at the suggestion of @Tinytuttle, and I am getting a better understanding of the things going on with my outdoors garden, because the last few years of just using compost to amend my soil has made such a huge difference in yields in the garden… It’s just to learn enough to do it effectively indoors…

I used to think that their premixed sucked too, because I had a similar experience a couple years back with a bagseed I had… was in a different soil, was sexed and revegging, and transplanted in bigger container with MG… went downhill quick… but the “time release” explanation makes perfect sense… It probably works well for flowers etc…

I’ll look into DTE products as well, and check out a few other things but I think I have things covered for now… I do have half a bag of MC now that I don’t really have a use for though…

@beacher thanks for the compliments on the light… a bit of overkill maybe but I’ll find out soon enough… just plain ceramic sockets, and a machined screw and nut where the small mounts/tabs were before being removed… 4 bucks at RONA I think… bought 8, recycled 8…

Peace

Once ya get going the “right” direction I don’t think you will ever turn back to the “dark side” lol!

I have to say that I always get some sort of weird deficiency that I can’t identify when I use megacrop. It still takes them through flower with no problem, but it’s a weird leaf pattern that no one has seen before. It is obviously not a perfect nute, but it is easy.

Maybe when V 22.0 comes out I may give it a shot… the kinks might be out of it by then…lol… but I doubt it very much…

Or I just have no clue…

Well, if they keep treating their customers like shit and not being open to hearing about any flaws in their product, they may not make it to v 3.0.

Solotek is great stuff and really easy to use. In fact most grotek products I’ve tried have been good, I’m surprised you don’t read more about them on forums like this.

They used to make an addon called ‘organic fusion’ that was designed to be used in conjunction with any regular chem nute and it was just incredible…they stopped making it for whatever reason I was pissed when I found out lol

It’s just some salesman more than likely getting everyone to go on in who ends up getting a big ol fat paycheck at the end of the month for sales truth be told I’d bet they’d have a difficult time coming up with a true diagnosis of what’s really going on!

That’s why that dude at green leaf nutes or who ever the fuck they are was feeling threatened by @anon95954822 comment !

@Tinytuttle Yup! That’s pretty much what I told @anon95954822 when he was upset. I mean the category “sponsored” pretty much tells us all we need to know about the threads within…

Been a bit since I updated, but Summer has been pretty busy, and tiring to say the least… as much as I look forward to retirement, I don’t look forward to Old Age… but both are quite a few years away, regardless…

I ended up harvesting the RX1 from @ReikoX on day 72, as I felt it had finished, and was also beginning to show signs of a bit of light bleaching on the top of the buds closest to the light. Normally. I prefer my smoke to be on the “fruitier” side flavor wise (i.e. Blueberry) but this bud has me intrigued… It has a strong skunk smell, kind of like smelling your car the next morning after hitting/running over a Pepe Le Pew… The bud is nice and dense, and I am looking forward to trying out a J or 10 when it’s ready…lol… On the topic of the FAM mix, I started 2 more of @ReikoX’s seeds, and both are currently in 1 G pots, so, looking forward to these growing out too…

ReikoX’s FAM (RX1)

The SOG grow seems to be doing ok, but I have already made one slight change to the plan… instead of 10 each of the Skywalker OG & my Unknown One, I took out 2 Skywalker’s and replaced them with the 2 “Mendo Lights” from @deep_rob that I have been taking cuttings from… both have already shown fem pre- flowers, I have several cuts from each, and it would be nice to get a preview of how it finishes, as long as I can get them to that point… If it works out, it works out… It is still in Veg mode for a couple more days, and I will flip it to 12/12 on my Bday…

The 3 Dark Spark Mix, from @Mr.Sparkle, are still going… I think 1 is having a bit of N toxicity maybe, or it is just a “clawing” trait that I have seen before, but I will deal with it… No worries really, as @TrevorLahey mentioned, even with this characteristic, it still produces nice bud… but I also see a flop in it’s near future, just because…

I received a very generous gift from @Meesh, and it contained several (lol) of the Jungle Spice seeds that were available from a previous seed run/share… These alone would keep my microgrowing busy for awhile…:+1: I chose to start a JS Red & JS Orange, given my mentality of balance and evenness, lol, and it took care of the 2 phenos that she sent that had an odd number of seeds… Personal quirk is all, lol…

Both are above ground and doing ok in the early stages, so it’s another variable in the mix now… I think I may have to build an actual dedicated “Mother Room” soon as all the photoperiods I have I want to keep going, and as the “menu” increases, it gets harder to “bonsai” more mothers… better learn how to make seeds soon I guess…lol

I ended up topping the Stargazer, and using the top as a clone/cutting… not sure of sex yet, and normally don’t have the best success rooting top cuts, but I will see what happens… seems to have initiated lower growth a bit so I am ok with the progress it’s making… I tend to try and stall growth a bit in my veg/clone cabinets until I have room in my other 2 cabinets, which kind of throws a bit of the unknown into things, but with microgrowing you do what you have to do to try and make things work… I have been lucky I haven’t had any herms, etc… yet…

First up, is mostly clones/cuttings from Mendo Lights, Stargazer, as well as the 1 Mendo Light that hasn’t shown pre-flowers yet… might have to take a rooted cutting and put it in the flower chamber after the flip to help it along…

My other small cabinet, back (l-r) Skywalker OG Mother, Unknown Mother, Skywalker OG (pulled from SOG), Skywalker OG, front row Jungle Spice Orange, Jungle Spice Red, Skywalker OG (pulled from SOG), Stargazer, Skywalker OG. Not pictured are the 2 ReikoX FAM mix I started, but will have some soon…

Ended up making another batch of Cannabutter, out of an OZ of Mr. S’s bud and Chocolate Chip Cookies… They didn’t last long, and certainly worked pretty good… I think I may increase the amount of butter in the recipe next time just to get an added kick…

Even made an attempt at QWISO, out of half an OZ of dried bud, and ended up with 1.5 grams… not sure why, other than out of curiosity, as I have never dabbed before, but I guess I’ll figure out something to do with it… I haven’t even tried it out yet. I really need to get my butt in gear and make a press of some kind, as I just can’t smoke all that I produce…

And for closers, here’s a couple shots of my outdoor Unknown Strain… In the ground May 5, and has only recently begun to bud… Not sure if it will finish in time, certainly have my doubts…

Sorry for ramblin’ on… Thanks for stopping by…

Peace

Man, everything looks in order, glad to see you’re doing well.

If the contentious politics could be removed from the perception of the relative quality of Miracle Gro, some cannabis growers would do better with some of their products vs. certain overpriced, cannabis specific nutrient lines.
However, it is probably the most shunned fertilizer (among cannabis devotees) so many will never deign to try it. Newbies on a budget would do well to use MG’s effective, inexpensive fertilizers.
For most of the 1980s I used MG for Tomatoes (I read about it in a Jorge Cervantes book).
It works fine, dissolves easily, and produces nice plants.
No one thinks it is the “best”, but it works well enough, particularly for those first learning how to grow.

A plant is better off with a good grower using mediocre ferts, than a mediocre grower using the “best” ferts.

The grower is the most significant variable, IMO.

First yeha one looks like the crinkle sensitive mutant trait.

Also definitely look into a press, but then you will have all this resin you don’t know what to do with, say that there definitely is a learning curve with presses and getting decent extractions out of them. Been lately trying the making hash first then rosin, as trying to look into way of reducing while simplifying “well sorta”

Ha! Next time I’ll count them and give you only even numbers! lol

It took me a few mins to think of a reply re:SOG lol

TBH I think I am going to get my ass kicked with it, but I’ll see how it goes… because I am already planning in my head, another attempt if I can time it right. It would probably be simpler if I went with 1 strain, so 2 different ones I have concerns…lol… but hey, nothing ventured, nothing gained…

Next batch of cookies will be kickass I think… I need to use up a few jars of bud, 40-50 g of trim, and might as well experiment a bit, so some Cannabutter is def in the future… I’ll ship ya some when I get a good batch if ya want…lol

I’ll let the crinkle mutant go a bit and see how it works out before deciding… I will probably flop the other as well, as it is only 5 inches from the light now, and even without stretch, would probably get light bleaching…

“Reducing” is what I had in mind really, as, while it is nice to have mason jars full of bud, when I look at it, it almost triggers an “Emphysema Episode” lol knowing I can’t smoke that much… I wish I could source some Everclear to attempt some of @ReikoX GD, as that would be a step forward I would think… but making hash out of it sounds really good too… I love the taste of really good hashish…

TBH, I have you to blame for my “first world problem” of too much bud…lol

Well choices for me is rosin first, and recently fresh frozen bubble hash made to rosin.

But on the topic of everclear, there are other options that are easily obtainable for me, that being methyl hydrate aka “methanol” which you can get at any hardware store or canadian tire yes its poisonous if drank, but once evaporated off there isn’t anything left, and any minute amount that may be left would be 10-100 fold less than what you would consume in your average beer, or wine for that matter, if you understand its a side product that is produced in the production of ethanol aka alcohol.

Follow the Quick wash ethanol guides that are around, just don’t have your dwell/sit time for as long as its a more aggressive polar solvent, i typically went for 30-60secs with chilled bud and methanol. Then go through winterization techniques aka put back the filtered methanol in the freezer for a couple days so the fats and waxes can drop out of suspension, and decant off the top of that to an evaporation dish ,silicone soap or baking molds work good for this, or dishes folded up from parchment paper, and let evaporate in regular room temp or through added heat, just being aware you are evaporating a flammable solvent.

Let me go hunt a pic of what you get in the end… Edit: blah cant find any of my pics i can grab them when im home later
