Your tears are my tears are our tears. :ocean:

Heal well & swift.

Today my sister & I assembled personal items to accompany my mom through cremation. She was an avid gardener & I opted for her pruning shears, knife, & coffee mug. Her retirement motto was “have trowel, will travel” & would often start pulling weeds at my heap of a place when visiting.

A very small amount of ashes will get mixed with a vial of my best vermicompost & used in miniscule amounts to bless my garden until it’s my turn. :sunflower:

Overgrow,

I just wanted to express my gratitude and appreciation to the many OG’ers collectively for your compassion and understanding during a difficult time…

It’s nice to have the support, even though we are strangers, but share a common bond…

I’ll do a better update soon, as really, gardening, both mj, flowers and veggies, has been my only alone time to process thoughts lately… but Mom, was my mentor with regards to plants, so it gives me mixed feelings…

I do have have a hilarious story to share(to me anyways) on how to deal with dysfunctional family members on the way to see your Mom on her Death Bed though… If Mom was around, she would probably laugh and approve of it…

Well, certainly overdue for doing an update, and now that things have kind of settled a bit, I can begin to pay more attention to my growing. It has been kind of maintenance mode the last couple weeks, and really getting a few mins here and there to take care of things in the cabinets, but progress is being made…

Bear with me, as it may get long…

I have since harvested the 4 Autos from @Mr.Sparkle (Easy D, Da Green, & 2 Fuzzes). They were all on Day 66 when I chopped them and they are currently hanging and drying on racks.

Preharvest pics…

Easy D

Da Green,

Fuzz 2

The RX1 from @ReikoX is still going, and doing ok, but would probably be looking better if I had more time to dedicate to growing the last bit… I would have to look up on my thread to find out the exact day it is on, but regardless of day, I will give it as much time as it needs to finish… It certainly is the strongest smelling MJ I have grown, because the smell is overpowering when I open the cabinet door…lol… I need to invest in an inline carbon filter soon…lol. I think it suffered the most from my mismanagement… I don’t think I watered/fed it properly…

RX1

I managed to make a couple changes in my Flowering Cabinet… I installed a receptacle just to tidy things up, and make it a bit safer… I really wasn’t liking having things connected to a 3 plug extension cord. And I got around to removing my 7 & 5 way light splitters and installing my Franken-light…

So far, I am ok with the new light… I will have to keep my eye on it a bit, as the increase in Wattage and number of SILs, will change up the environment in the FC, but I think I will be able to manage it. The aluminum framework seems to be dissipating some heat as well which is a good sign. Time will tell…

Some specs…

12 X 15 W, 4 X 10 W = 220 W
15 W SILs, 6 each of 2700K & 5000K
10 W SILs, 2 each of 3000K & 5000K
220W/2.75 sq. ft. gives me 80W/sq. ft.

I realize it is kind of pushing the W/ sq. ft. rule, and if I have to I can adjust it with bulbs, but until it shows me a reason to do so, I will keep on going. I just think (know) that the SILs aren’t as efficient as strips, etc and to try and compensate a bit for that I’ll boost the numbers… Or stop being a cheap bastard, and bite the bullet and order strips, drivers/controllers, etc… lol… But I do like to tinker…

While I was putting the light together, I started thinking about trying a SOG run in my FC, as the light would provide a better footprint (I hope) to make it possible. The plan I had is rather ambitious for a small space, and may rethink numbers, but I am going to attempt 20 plants in a 20" X 20" space, 10 Skywalker OG clones, and 10 Unknown (bagseed) clones. 20 plants because the trays I am using hold 10 plants each, and oddly enough, fit perfectly in my cabinet… I may however reduce the number as @Palindrome suggested to me, because while on paper it may sound good, in theory 20 will probably be too many, but I’ll see how it progresses… Easier to remove than add later on…

SOG… Unknown Bagseed left, Skywalker OG right

The Mendo Lights are still going on… I took 3 cuts each of the 2 that showed female, and topped the third that has yet to show anything, and will be slowly vegged until I can run them… but they will be run, as soon as I can manage to… The Stargazer is doing well… thinking I may top it soon to promote some branching… It’s nice to have a variety going, even in small spaces… Looking forward to throwing some Jungle Spice into the mix from @Meesh when they arrive too… At least I kind of have a future plan of runs so it’s pretty cool…

Anyways, here’s a group shot of the Mendos and Stargazer(in front)…

I was going to try a few of @Mr.Sparkle’s Dark Spark Mix outdoors, and put 3 soaking in water, and after a bit, after doing the math, I realized that they wouldn’t have time to finish properly, so I opted to keep them for indoors… I did however pull the one I had outside, as it was spindly and leaves were all twisted up, and really wouldn’t have amounted to anything… Damn, that’s the first of Mr. S’s seeds I have pulled the plug on… I’ve been pretty fortunate in that department, as his Autos have done pretty good for me… I think I may have to start giving some away, or make more potent edibles…lol… They have certainly produced more than I can possibly smoke…

The new Dark Spark Mix and the RX1 photobombing (lol)…

I really wish I could find the fourth square planter that the DSM are in because in my limited experience using these pots has produced some pretty nice plants… it would be nice to do a run of the 4 remaining FAM’s I have from @ReikoX in these planters as the roots seem to like them… just my own stoner observations…

Well, sorry for rambling, thanks for checking things out, and again, my thanks go out to the OG community for the support given during Mom’s passing. It was greatly appreciated and most certainly welcoming and comforting…:peace::hearts::smile:

Peace

OOH Frankenlights! lol New stuff is always fun! I’m stoked for you that you’ve gotten so much bud from Sparkles seeds! I just didn’t have much luck at all. He did say that he may have sent me an immature pack. That is a real possibility. It’s been more fun watching everyone else grow them out. Looks like you are having good luck with Reikos FAM’s too! So far all of mine are just phenomenal. I have 9 of them in various stages at this moment and I am looking forward to smoking every single one of them. I’ll be honest and say that I’m gonna hide “The Rose” from Dad. Not sharing. I believe I have gotten a rare expression in his autos and plan to horde this one for myself as so far I’ve seen one post regarding the pink plant, but not with the rose smell. This is certainly the most unique plant I’ve ever come across so far in my life. So…mine, mine all mine! Ssh!

Well your gonna be overkill with the new light id guess not to mention the heat but hey if you can make it work… but you mentioning not being a cheap ass with the light rig and maybe going strips…

You know it would only cost about $90 if you used some bridgelux eb series gen 2’s strips, 18-20 of them to be specific of the 11" wide ones (280mm) cause of your 20" wide space as the next size up is 22" long, but that coupled to a xlg-150-l-ab driver, and your at the same if not more light depending on your sils efficiencies, and you would probably be running at near half the wattage. Check out my recent light build  . As all honestly for the price i picked up my parts for SIL’s are dead as an option now IMO if you have some basic DIY and electrical skills, which most do in order to build a SIL array.

Not to be after that fact but  shit happens.

Also thumbs up to the culled outdoor plant, it needs to happen sometimes and it better to learn on a struggling crinkly plant than one that is healthy.

Selfish, selfish, selfish…lol… considering the number of bins of bud you, your Dad, and Man are going to be enjoying, I don’t think they will mind you “hoarding” your own beloved stash…lol… you’re too funny gurl…

I also wanted to respond because I forgot to mention something I noticed with these Autos from Mr. S, and your post reminded me, but I am noticing a bit more of a diesel/fuel smell with these, rather than the citrusy smell from before… or it could be I have no sense of smell anymore…

no there is a solvent like side to some of them, just depends on how they express.

Yeah, I know it is overkill, and I am concerned with heat(main worry) but it seems to be ok so far with 2 fans running…

I was definitely going to PM (I honestly feel weird PM’ing people, because I don’t want to bother them) you about your new lights, re: details, etc… because I do realize the efficiencies of strips, and the benefits of your approach, but I am taking baby steps for now and relearning growing… I know 6 months down the road I will be going “I shoulda changed everything” but for now it is fun for me…

I think if I actually took the time to understand drivers, etc more it would push me quicker to understand the benefits more, and learn the tech behind it… I had to fabricate the shield on the terminal block (did not come equipped with one) out of Plexiglass because I made the mistake of “randomly” grabbing the terminal block while “live” and testing to adjust position… not cool & actually felt pretty weird for a bit after that “lifter” lol… Electrical work is something I can do, but really, only if it is basic, as my confidence with it is not the greatest…

As for the culled plant, well, considering how many of your seeds have turned out pretty damn good imo, I certainly can’t complain… I am interested to see how my next batch of Chocolate Chip cookies turns out as it will be from your bud…

I forgot to mention, I also picked up my first scale at Crappy Tire… it was 50% off, so why not… It’ll be a handy addition to the “tool shed”…lol… I think I bought it because I want a better idea for making Cannabutter than anything… right now, GPW really means nothing to me, but that may change…

YES! I noticed that as well. For me, it was the Dark Sparks that had the citrus smell and taste. I’ve got the solvent ones with the Easy D’s. I’ll let you know when my The Fuzz are done what they are like.

You’re right. The grower should have their own Platinum collection of bud. The top shelf if you will… lol Seems only fair, since I am the one who loves them, feeds them, pets them, talks to them and damn it foliars them!

People get pissed when I say it, but miracle gro is a great veg nute. It’s all the same stuff in the end, right?

New light looks really pro, great job! What kind of sockets are those and how did you attach them to the frame?

I admit I use it on my container flowers, but I’m not a big fan of all their ties to monsanto etc… Mostly I use it because it’s water soluble and easy to use. However, I have never used it on my cannabis and would never put it on any of my plants in the ground.
