Maybe some sea star?
thank you, I am delighted to puzzle peeps. Not a mollusc.
@Pannonian not a sea star.
But yes, we were at the beach. Pacific Northwest coast of the US, ultra low tide.
So interesting. I used to live in that neck of the woods. I would have to guess an anemone of some kind.
Yep! It’s all folded in on itself, and that’s the “foot” on top there. Most folks don’t know they can detach and go swimming around. We found this poor thing detached and about to cook in the sun. I think the tide was -3.5’ that day (3.5 feet below sea level - that’s a LOT of beach on a shallow grade. )
After a little educational examination by the teenager, we tucked it back in a cooler, wetter spot to wait for the water to return.
Send me your deets and seed preference.
Oh, and I think exact ID is a Christmas Tree anemone.
Woohoo! I don’t think I’d have ever guessed it without the tide pool hint. I spent a lot of hours checking out tide pools when I lived there. What a magical place.
Thank you so much, @RainToday . I would love to get my hands on the pineapple x pineapple! I just kicked off my first perpetual grow and I plan to pop these shortly after I get them! I’ll make sure to document my grow. Your generosity is amazing!
And thank you @PsillyRabbit for kicking this off. This was a blast!
