Walleyeâs the best fresh water fish Iâve ever had.
All I did really for fun in South Dakota was walleye fish. I usually released them since I caught so many.
I was gonna release this 25"er too, but my buddy wanted to take it and have his father in law mount it. I was like if anyoneâs gonna mount it itâs me, so he called the guy and he said heâd do it for me for $50. I said fine. But I caught way bigger ones a few times.
My son caught one just like this with a little Spiderman little kids pole at the same spot another year. He was like 4. Pics are on my main computer though. His was an inch shorter.
Walleye is some damn good eating.
They are picky about their bait too.
Minnows are sold at half the gas stations in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Was $1 a scoop, but they were like $1.5 a scoop when I left. I came to Colorado, and good luck finding them in Denver. I did, but they only had a tiny 10 gal tank with about 15 minnows. You also pay by the minnow here. I was shocked. Anyways I bought them all for like $10 I think.
Tiny town in SD has them all over, but only 15 minnows total in the big city of Denver, lol.
So I use leaches here since theyâre easier to get. They work, but not as good, and I have to use different tactics. I have a system though, and everyone I fish with seems to incorporate what I do in there tactics from then on. I learned it from an old master I met a lake in Tahoe that pulled out a 5+ lb brown trout right before my eyes.
Itâs nothing revolutionary. I just use a bobber with an old beer tab or swivel on my line as a strike indicator. I just allow a little slack, so the fish can test the bait and canât feel any resistance. But I can see that heâs messing with it and so I get ready. Sometimes they just take it and so I set the hook and the bobber will fly off behind me. It helps to fool the smarter fish.
I once made a pizza with weed in it, I ate half of it, got the munchies, and reheated it. Got the munchies again. I made another one. I am stuck in a paradox, when will I be done? lol Lil poem I wrote. I eat healthy lately. 4 plus cups of veg, fish, 3-4 garlic cloves. every night on pasta or rice.
Just made some real good Chicken Flavor Top Ramen
