Tried to make crispy spring rolls lol the ones with the rice paper don’t know what went wrong lol probably the saddest spring roll photo ever
BBQ Pork Tenderloin with garden fresh snow peas, bushes beans and corn on the cob last night! Outdoors for the beautiful weather!
we rolled some in wontons, turned out okay. Also made wonton soup and crab rangoon that way. Shellfish allergy so I sometimes make the crab rangoon and substitue just a bit of smoked salmon and some chives. Tastes good. They can eat the shellfish just fine btw
Edit- as I recall it was common to find the sheets in a size for crab rangoon and wontons. The large ones were hard to find.
If its served in fine restaurants in America I can make it at home for a lot less…I’m also an adventurous eater folks, don’t underestimate the meat on a pig’s head…
Not the most adventurous with trying new food. Another of the many pics of “the usual” Fries double fried in beef fat and some picanha and top sirloin seared in beef fat and rested with butter. I got a bit carried away with making 3 so the spoiled puppy got some after I washed some butter off.
@Oldtimerunderground I saw in another thread you posting about honey so figured I’d bring it over to the food thread. Do you have a fav kind or a specific few you like to get? I really like wildflower honey as well. Up until a few years ago the only stuff I’d tried was the shit that comes in the plastic bee from the big grocery stores so I thought I didn’t like honey until I tried some wildflower stuff. Didn’t realize there was so much variety.
Took a few pics of what’s in the pantry atm. Usually have more. Use it mostly for home made yogurt but lately I’ve been putting it on pancakes instead of syrup and it’s actually pretty good. I want to start baking with it but it’s a little but on the pricey side for me. I emailed a few of the places I like and 15kg pails are going from 150-200ish. It’s nice in dinner rolls/bread though.
My 2 current favourites are from a place called Findlay Creek Apiary and surprisingly the Farm Boy label ones. The Findlay Creek ones I only get a few jars per year but it has a really strong floral smell to it. The Farm Boy one is from a place called Peachey Honey Farm but just labelled for the Farm Boy in Ontario. Also has nice floral taste and is relatively cheap at 12-13kg.
The Gees Bees company from one of the photos makes a marsh honey I really want to try. Supposedly made on 3000 acres of wetland.
@neogitus those steaks look righteous!! Got me drooling over here! This is turning into my favourite thread, lots of inspiration and motivation to chef up some bomb ass meals. Really brings out that primordial hunger lol straight ravenous! For real.
I really like the local stuff and anything non-pasteurized. I once had some in Lebanon, was amazing. It really worries me when I read about them watering down the commercial stuff. Been seeing alot of the Chinese honey at grocery stores lately. Haven’t bought the bottled stuff in years, well worth it to pay a bit extra for quality and peace of mind. It’s crazy how many people don’t even know that’s there are different grades of honey!
I love the wildflower stuff, 9 times out of 10 I use it instead of sugar and it always comes out proper. I want to build a hive this year and really get into it. I think everyone should, it would really help with getting away from processed sugar and all the bullshit we see stocked on shelves. Much healthier and tastier to make it all, there’s really no excuse when we have access to all the raw ingredients.
Those honeys in your photos all look sooo good! I’d be grabbing 5 spoons out the drawer faster than you could open it lol. And not teaspoons, I’d be going right for the soup spoons
Oh yeah, I love eating the comb too!
looking forward to seeing everyone’s food from today
nothing special today,but i´m euro…so it´s ok i´d say
…i guess,You guys do eat much better today
Happy 4th to U all over there!
i tried some of this on a burger and wasn’t impressed:
River rats I’m not a salmon lover it looks good tho
That looks dank, I know what I’m cooking for dinner tomorrow love me some salmon,. I cook it with mayonnaise and lemon juice with onion slices over it baked in a tin wrap.
I’ve never eaten at that place., I like to cook because well it’s cheaper and always more satisfying with my experiences at the least. Something about making the perfect meal.
That looks good how you make them unless it’s a family secret
