To each their own,
Grilled rattle snake. Kinda sweet, very flakey. You can just flake the meat off with a fork all thats left behind is the coiled skeleton… not my picture! We put them in foil with butter and herbs.
Big boy from last spring… good variety of chanties in my neck of the woods. Love sauteeing with garlic butter herbs and just simple toast.
Rattlesnake is seriously delicious!
The only time I had it, my old partner and I were doing a remodel at the head of Benedict Canyon in Los Angeles, maybe 40 years ago. A group of Latino landscapers killed a rattlesnake on the hillside. It was maybe ten feet long. The next day, they brought it for lunch and very generously shared some of it with us. I don’t remember how it was cooked or what kind of a spice flavor profile it had, but boy howdy was it ever delicious!! Probably cooked in lard.
Folks, if you ever have the opportunity, I highly recommended you give it a try!
Can any of you Americans put me onto a proper good gumbo recipe I want to have a go making one they sound good
