Nice photos!
wth is this konk shell looking thing ? and the first 2 pic’s 'm droolin ova here hopefully one day i’ll get to try
This last spring I started some gardening (like so many during lockdown) which actually led me back to growing MJ again later in the summer. Well I started with some berries, then more berries. Then hot peppers oh and a late in the season attempt at watermelons on a makeshift trellis
This summer, I should have some white blackberries, pink blueberries, and a new breed of blackberries said to be the best tasting ones ever. I got the plants last summer/fall, so they should bear fruit this year
Some other beautiful plants
aha, I try to grow some flowers, when them blooming, maybe very majestic.
I grow most of what I eat each year and my meat is raised within 20 min of my house by close friends.
Onions , potatoes , carrots , squash , cabbage , tomatoes , basil , beans , peas , beets , lettuce , arugula , turnip , radishes , hot peppers , green peppers , garlic , spinach , parsley , rhubarb
Oregano , sage , thyme , lavender , rosemary , lemon balm ,
Blue berries , hascap berry , raspberry , black and red currants , strawberries
Apples , plums , cherries, grapes
For the record a lot of things can be cloned like weed . Rosemary and both red a black currants are the main two I clone .
I also only grow things I am able to save seed from . I plant 3 times what I would eat . 1/3 is to eat, 1/3 is for seed , and 1/3 is for loss to pest etc . Doing that I always end up with enough food and with enough seed for the next year.
Great pics, I love that you grow most of what you consume. Myself, I grow anything and everything I can get my hands on. I’ve grown flowers/herbs/veggies since I was a youngin. Always have an herb bed, I’ve got 2 raised beds for veggies and a spot I’ve been planting where I’m adding another 3 raised beds this year. Also got some random fruit going. An apple tree, cherry tree, blueberry bush and started growing melons last year. Supposed to be getting cuttings of thornless black raspberries and blackberries this year too. I love cacti too and need to get some going
What is that lime green spikey thing
When I lived in Oak Park, Illinois I went to the farmers market and saw them so I asked what they were and have been growing them ever since then the people at the farmers market were Italians…Anyway its called Italian Romanesco, they also come in purple too…Google Romanesco or go to ebay…the texture is like cauliflower & its delish.
What is the purple fruit that you cut in half? Also, what type of berries are two pics below it? Not sure If I ever saw those either.
I add a little more each year I’ve been here but more weed than anything. I kept a late tomato plant that I brought inside and babied all year and started another one that is fruiting already. I’ll start more this summer.
Inside I have flowers and house plants, scented geranium (citronella) plants, rosemary, basil, lots of flowers outside that were planted here before I bought it. I also have a small grape vine that did great a couple of years ago. A couple of young fruit trees, 2 apple and one peach. Raspberries that have never given me fruit yet. I got it to shoot a couple of flowers and a few tiny fruit but that was it. I need somebody that knows how to prune them better. Also have thornless blackberries that are huge but have huge seeds, too, heh.
I’m hoping to get e few more veggies in my raised beds this year. Maybe beans and peppers. I need some kids for helpers, lol. It’s a tough climate here though. Lots of hail storms in summer, drought, high winds.
Sorry I should of put the pics in order with what I was saying lol
That purple fruit is a blue potato . They turn blue when you cook them
Those berries are hascap berries. They taste very similar to blue berries and are the first berry ready to pick .
Golden raspberries are the best!!
Love the photos!!
The currants are inspiring!!
Just bought my first bare root currant, soaking it now, planting soon.
Google proplifting. It grows your collection really quick…
Romenesco broccoli. It grows in a fractal sequence, like pineapples.
Welcome to the board! Interesting place for you first post on a MJ board lol.
I grow every vegteble, fruit, berry, herb, medical herb that I can each year increasing. Next big growing project is buying an old combine and trying to produce my families yearly use of wheat
Do you cook alot of Indian food?
Omg I was made to eat too much of that growing up.
