I’m really having a hard time keeping Temps up for uptake but low enough light intensity that I’m not stressing the ladies…
Does anyone know of a decent sure fire way to keep humidity down and temps up… I mean the obvious choice is dehumidifier… but the 1 I have is bigger… and it seems to raise humidity when not dehumidifying if it is in my tent… what else could I use? Or is there a dehuey that is very accurate and shuts off at correct humid levels etc… instead of running too long … I read a thing that talked about dehueys vs your temp and humid meters… the dehuey isn’t set to kick on and off at say a 1 or 2 percent humidity degree of freedom… and suggestions would be greatly appreciated I know someone knows of something here… I have faith!!
Small space heater.
And an Inkbird to control it, also an Inkbird would help control the dehumidifier as well. The Inkbirds are typical better than the controls inside a dehumidifier, as those builtin controls have a lot hysteresis built in.
I usually close the tent vents and turn off the exhaust. That being said I have near perfect conditions normally. My tent is usually 70 and the humidity is usually between 50-55. I’m working out a way to automate my temp control though to maximize the benefit of proper VPD.
An inkbird? Are you talking about a dehuey? Or is inkbird some kind of controller?
I use an oil filled radiator in my room. I kinda eye balled the dial. keeps the room at ~80F
My 4x4 tent is in a 6x10 shed. When needed I used a small space heater in the shed. Keeps temps more consistent than in the tent.
Can’t you raise the light some, enough to increase the light output to generate sufficient heat?
It’s a gavita 1700e in a 4x4 tent… so no… lol
I already have the light at the very top of my tent it’s fixed there…
Hang a calender with nekkid ladies inside your tent to get temps rising.
I got my inkbird/heater set at 77f. So it bounces between 75 & 79… Is 80 really better?
A “Newair 400w slim heater” man it’s so slim, takes up very little room in tent. $59… Check it. I just got one along with the ITC-308.
I think its close enough for jazz.
Adding to the conversation,I second @MrWizard inkbirds,I got both RH and TEMP controllers.I have the same issue as OP,The box Is still empty but I run my leds and take measurements. My room temp Is 19 at lights out,I set It to be 25°C On and at lights out 22°C,but my humidity Is 74% without any fan running/heating.So I choose tu run the exhaust only when temperature registered are 25,5C°.
I connected the temperature Inkbird to raise temps from 19°C to 25°C with a heating panel, and turn on when 22°C are registered.
The fan Is set on COOLING and shuts down at 25°C again. This help me with RH being lower than 60% but higher than 50%.
Don’t know though if It Is safe for mold to let my exhaust go on for 2 mins and then shut off.
In the mean time, a couple of gallon jugs of hot water placed in the tent will help. I’ve been doing this in my cold attic tent to aid in boosting temps a couple degrees.
I have to germ some seeds, thought of doing this instead of buying a heated mat to spare some bucks.Could this work?I should put the sensor of my Inkbird at contact with the germination ziplock?
@Cbizzle
That should work just fine. Put the probe as close to the beans as possible.
Although, not sure how large the space is that baggie sits in. It may not save you much money if the space is a tent as you are heating the whole tent just to keep the baggie warm. A lot more energy will be required.
ETA: just noticed you might be talking about the hot water bottles. They are good for increasing humidity, but not so good for increasing heat.
I found the Ac infinity temp / humidity controller unit to work well - provided you have ac infinity exhaust fans. I just have them turn on when temp gets too high or humidity gets too low, otherwise they are off. I found once the led is cranked up for flower, the temps stay high and then I have constant exhaust on.
