ā€œ Iā€™m gawn man ā€¦ā€¦ solid gawnnn ā€œ

Hahaha

Mulch the top of the pots 2-3 inches of coco husks, keeps them beat back, as they struggle to get through that stuff.
Of course bottom wateringā€™s also help a bunch.

I use that 10 gallon planter to hold my mulch, as it gets recycled over and over, and all I do is water rinse it down, allow it to drain off, and itā€™s ready for action.
But that is just my way.

Poop transplants can even help depression.

Evidence suggest that monkeys fling poo with a ā€œbe like meā€ intention, since our gut biome seems to dictate a considerable ammount of ā€œhow we feelā€

I donā€™t know what that says about marquis de sade, plumbers, or pornhub, but for now Iā€™m appreciative of the poo you monkeys keep hand delivering. Apes too.

I kinda forgot about this thread, but then I got some gnats on some clones Iā€™ve been neglecting because of life stuff, luckily they finally got roots, so now I have good airflow. I gave a weak ish bti drench last week, and when the soil was dry on top after that ~3 days later, I sprayed everything again.

I noticed a bunch of dead gnats in my dehumidifier bucket, so I keep a booger of mosquito dunk in there from now on too.

Sometimes when thereā€™s an imbalance in the force, you can search if mr Dawson has any posts, it might not be the answer youā€™re looking for, but it will always help balance the force and make finding the answer less like a chore and more like an adventure.

And mithridate, who said ā€œyou are the lense through which life is rendered hospitableā€

I hope I didnā€™t butcher that quote too much, :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Epsom = 5 grams per 5 gallon for veg and 7.5 grams per 5 gallon in flower
Micro = 30 ML per 5 gallon
Grow = 30 ML per 5 gallon
Bloom = 40 ML per 5 gallon

Thank you for recommending these traps I also soaked with bt and now in control and I stopped losing seedlings.

These are great and kind of cute

Just wanted to say besides sticky traps, neem cake and seed is a great way to control them while also adding some nutritional benefit. Just need to mix into the medium

Not sure if anyoneā€™s gonna read this, but back when I was managing greenhouses, I trialed just about every product labeled for fungus gnat control, including beneficial nematodes during my first year on the job. After consulting a local research entomologist, I found out fungus gnats pupate in lower pH media. I ended up spraying flowable lime over the soil surface to increase the pH. That pretty much eliminated them from the greenhouses over a 2 - 3 week period and those greenhouses didnā€™t have any outbreaks for the remaining 5 years I worked there.

And unfortunately most soil mixes contain organic amendments which break down and lower pH so itā€™s a constant battle along with warmth and moisture. Good old-fashioned sticky traps and BT seem to be the only thing that work for meseem to be the only thing that work for me

I tried mosquito bits, h2o2 and even ipa spray over the surface of the pots but gnats persisted so i put the pots in bags and sealed gnats in/out

The ones that donā€™t get stuck in the moisture film and die get squished, Iā€™ve been unable to find one gnat between 5 pots in the last week+ thatā€™s been around a month now.

You can feed/water coco and soil from a saucer no problem.

Sticky traps and pred.mites are always up as IPM.
BT helps also really good. I water with it over a period of two weeks if there are problematic numbers of gnats.
What helped in long term against the gnats, was switching to fabric-pots. I also ad a 1" thick layer of fine sand on top of the earth. That seals the earth but keeps everything open for air/evaporation.

Yeah man Iā€™ve seen quite a few people use sand to basically prevent them from moving aroundā€¦ unfortunately used grow bags for many years and fungus gnat donā€™t discriminate against those containers either haha. Heavy organic materials just bring them in at least in my area with tons of animals and the outdoors around
