When was the last time you wrote a letter?

Like a real letter. To someone you love. My daughter planned a huge road trip for just the two of us, and while we were hanging out in the hotel I agreed to watch an anime that I had been putting off. Violet Evergarden. The basic premise is putting your feelings into a letter. We got back yesterday and all I can think of is writing her a letter telling her how much she means to me. I dug out all of my top shelf paper/ink to write it. My pens are junk, as well as my writing, but I have all the best inks. What do I use?

When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone you love? Wife, kid, parent, grandparent, whatever.

Fuck, hard outta likes for 10 hours.

I think I wrote an actual letter to one of my sisters maybe a decade or so ago. Yikes!

Interesting topic.

If wedding thank you letters count then quite a few a year ago but other than that…a long time ago.

Yo @Foreigner did you ever come to a resolution with your fam? I remember talking with you dealing with shitty family stuff a few months ago in your thread. I know you weren’t looking for an actual resolution, but fuck, this anime had me tearing up. Just write them a letter telling them how you feel.

No resolution I’m afraid.

I’m not sure how I feel because ending a letter with go fuck yourself is frowned upon.

And I’ve done all the bigger person behaviour I’m prepared to do. I tried.

It’s a shame, and I wish I could just say I don’t care but I’m sick of their bullshit.

I’m really sorry to hear that. I know more than most how that feels. Downside is I’ll never get to tell her how I feel. Not my daughter that I just went on the trip with, but my other…

Just for context my brother didn’t rsvp. He didn’t respond at all. I told him off via text message.

My sister had a “very important” recreational reason which she was stupid enough to post on Facebook the day of. But at least she rsvp’d no.

Their silence and years long deliberate absence shouts their positions pretty loud.

Really I feel bad for my parents not for me. They have grandchildren they barely know.

I remember. I’m really sorry they suck that bad :disappointed:

I’m good enough to talk to when they want to borrow money but that’s it I guess.

If I also remember correctly from other threads, you’re basically ballin out of control? That’s shitty that’s all they want from you. I’m not, but doing fine, and I’m struggling with family that likes me (not my immediate, they have to :smirk:) legitimately needing stuff. Life sucks :expressionless:

Nah life is good. I’ve had time to process.

But back on track nice old fashioned hand written letters are lovely to get in the mail. I got a nice one the other day.

Like 40+ years ago when I was in the service. Probably either to my mother or grandmother

do death letters count? every three or four years i write a new one of those. i wrote several to my son while he was in basic and ait last year.

Last person I wrote a letter to was my great uncle, and that was a couple years ago. Now that you mention it I should probably write him another.

That’s really sweet. You should definitely write her a letter.

My son writes me letters like this:

He thinks that’s sooo funny…

Ah, yeah… this is why I live ~1000+ miles away from anyone I’m related to. Anyone related to me automatically gets negative 10 points to start with. They start out in a hole and need to prove themselves to even get the respect of a random stranger.

That sucks bro! :pensive:

More on topic, Violet Evergarden is soo good!

Do seed letters count? :joy: I’d have to say it’s been over 20 years since I wrote a REAL letter to anyone. Probably some ex

“Dear jerk. I’m not sure how you got to be such a jerk…”

But yeah family is complicated. I get along well with my parents and other sister and see them often.

I wrote letters to my daughter at summer camp a month ago.

I like to include handwritten notes in my seed shares.

There’s something special about receiving the marks made by another’s hand.

Same, I love my mom and little brother and one of my aunts that happens to be 2yrs older than me. Don’t really care about anyone else I’m related to.
