so my question is, how did you get infected with mildew?
Which time?
Once an infected cutting (I now treat any outside clone with Eagle 20 before it goes in the garden)
Once from an air exchange fuckup on my part
Couple times from running plants too close together in warmer humid summer months, once even in the winter from running plants too close and getting lazy about defoliation.
And pretty much guaranteed to get some mild mildew on outdoor plants every year…tomatoes, pumpkins, melons, flowers, sometimes in spring overgrown lawn can get patches of a downy mildew, rusts when it gets really hot…etc. It just be like that.
I don’t even think about it. It’s just something to watch out for, and the treatment for me takes 5 minutes and $1 worth of pesticide and some airflow adjustment. IDK what to tell ya.
Naw I’m specifically referring to the pm that cannabis gets and in a controlled environment. If I go outside I can see many different mildew strains infecting different plants. None of them are the cannabis one. Or I’d be studying it
How long did it take you to overcome the infection initially.
uhhhh 24 hours…Eagle works fast…really fast. Incredible initial knockdown and a week or so of residual effect.
Inside is never far from outside. Your room is not as sterile as you think it is. All the air inside was outside a matter of hours ago.
Naw I don’t have to worry about being a completely clean room, instead I make it impenetrable to cannabis parasites.
I’m actually talking about how long the entire process took. Failing with other treatments and shit, before it was finally wiped out.
2-3 weeks I guess with zero improvement? If anything it got worse, couple plants were particularly susceptible, some others had a few spotty patches but were more or less 'OK". It moves quick once it gets started. Got to reading, bought Eagle, mold ded overnight.
Your room is not impenetrable to microscopic spores, homes. It would be almost impossible to hermetically seal a room like that, at least, it wouldn’t be cost effective.
Naw you don’t need to be hermetically sealed, it’s actually way easier than that. 2-3 weeks doesn’t seem like much trial time to me. But! IF you have a microscope, you can check daily to see if the mildew is dying or regenerating. I would give mine a couple weeks per trial, especially the 25% humidity. I only have a fine mesh over my intake! Realistically, I’ve never seen an infection develop that way, it is like the studies GrowingHigher posted where you basically rub a leaf from an infected plant on an asymptomatic one to guarantee infection.
I mean, why wait 2-3 weeks + with no improvement when I could eliminate overnight? Maybe wishes and moonbeams cure bedbugs but don’t ask me to find out.
I’m just trying to grow weed easy here, not gather info for a wordpress article about mildew.
How do you ensure the eagle 20 doesn’t make it into the flower when you grow it. From my understanding e20 stays in the plant for a long time and some growers have been denied sale because of failing the pesticide screening because of e20 does multiple cuttings and rerooting remove It?
Edit, sorry if this has been asked above
I don’t lol. Now I can go years without any indoor mildew issues, so it isn’t like this is an every week thing. It’s been at least a year or more since I’ve applied it to any Cannabis (except inbound clones/cuttings as a preventative measure). Just apply when I have to, usually a direct result of some type of fuckup on my part.
IDK, probably. I couldn’t say how long a couple parts per billion would be detectable. My product isn’t subject to testing, I grow for me.
science, brother. We definitely need to “gather info for a wordpress article about mildew” because to quote GI Joe “The more you know”.
I also have been mildew free for 20 years, having defeated it long ago, then knowing the pest never got infected again. Here’s the thing… you saw the debunking of garbage info I did above, and those were things I learned using science on the mildew parasite. It’s merely a “coincidence” my findings match with university studies? You can learn so much, if you really try. Ironically… my advice for the past 20 years has always been the same… yo soak that thing in sulfur then do it again 2 weeks later and you’ll never see mildew again. The linchpin in this whole operation is the human. We need to concentrate on feeding real facts you can verify to the humans, it’s the only way to defeat the enemy.
I know I know we can all make fun of harry balls he’s a really good target out there. Suck it up millionaire eh? But there’s a super dark side to it and jokes about that shit or even saying suck it up. Money doesn’t purchase happiness, right? My case study was Selena Gomez, Girls Got It All™ …oh wait she’s got lupus and is basically suicidal. You see what I’m saying about making fun of their suffering? It’s fun to do but yo, that’s dark shit brother. Millionaires and celebs are just people too.
Is there any university literature on the subject or do you just mean “study?”
John Gerring defines the case study approach as an “intensive study of a single unit or a small number of units (the cases), for the purpose of understanding a larger class of similar units (a population of cases).”
Now now…I am certain he was equally as diligent and rigorous in studying Selena Gomez, as he was with various pests.
Shit Vernal now you’ve got me thinking about a cartoon
no, I know. Just blow off some serious shit with stupid memes. It’s getting us somewhere alright. Listen to this story vernal… Like why are you here even reading this shit? What is your purpose in the group? Sure, you have your lets spray some eagle 20… which is basically how you satirize yourself. You want to talk about it? Is your savior eagle 20 now you need to defend your pal against attack by evil university studies? Then try to convince people I’m insane and everything I know is bullshit just to defend… your choice to tell people to use that stuff?? Yo, I’m just swinging at shit here you tell me what’s real.
So I’m going to get some sulfur to keep on hand. But with the mothers I’m keeping, and still getting clones, I feel I should also have eagle 20 on hand to treat the incoming clones. But since I give clones out at times, some are to a caregiver, I should prob treat, continue to isolate, then take a fresh clean cutting to make a mother plant with and give cuts out after that’s been grown out and cut a few times. I may end up doing that due to a root aphid problem anyway. I just need to clean the existing plants so I can safely make new moms without them getting infested. Then start with just promix, no more compost or any bagged soil blends indoors! Crab meal or insect frass for now on if I want chitin in the blend, no more lobster compost.
So I’m assuming I’ve got to wash off all this crusty sulfur before I put these plants into flower, correct? ANy tips or tricks, or just blast it with H2O spray?
