White powdery mildew, what do I do?

well… here’s the deal. If you are trying to contain an infection and that purifying system is keeping infected stock from infecting other plants, I could see the use. Realistically though most infections are through bringing an infected clone into the grow, so I’m not sure it would help in that situation.

It is more of a preventative. Can definitely burn plants. It inhibits spore germination, not so much the fungus. Grape growers apply in winter, infrequently, because it builds up in soil, not that it matters much for our purposes.

It fills a space with charged ions and covers all surfaces. Spores don’t have a chance.

I use Harvest Miracle in my RDWC nutrient mix and if things get bad then also as a foliar spray in a much higher concentration. While copper can normally cause problems if to much is used, I’m happy to report that you can soak your plant in this stuff and it’ll just make your leaves a little wonky with no other issues. I’m just finishing up a grow and had a lite bit of PM show up near the finishing line. After wet trimming the buds, I did find PM here and there and only in the heart of the plant because i let things get a little too bushy. I always do a bud wash anyways but I add a H202 pre-bucked soak for when PM shows up like this near the end. So far so good!

This is the stuff I’m talking about (copper):

ok so you have a story to go with that? What happened when you got mildew?

I’m not sure what the story is with so many requests for stories but here is a story:

I cannot say that I have it but the cut that SeaMonkey has in quarantine is my NorCal Dosidos. My mother is not exhibiting PM effects but I also spray her regularly with rotating products so it may just be curbed.

I do not have her in culture at the moment so I will make some test media, get her a sterilizing bleach rinse, and get her into culture. This will create a pathogen free mother. Hopefully it takes 4 instead of 6 months.

In the meantime, I have a ProGuard DXM Mini on order for my nursery as an added engineering control.

What did you do when you got PM?

I doused it with sulfur twice and it died. 2 weeks apart. Then I cleaned up all the drips from the floor and bloomed the plants after cloning them. Never seen that shit for 20 years since, but I have someone looking for a new colony for me to torture. I just need an infected leaf from a cannabis plant.

Downy mildew on Cannabis? Do you have some pictures? I know this has been reported last year in Ontario and has historically been reported in the US, but it is rare. I have never seen it.

Got some Hy - Yield sulphur today and sprayed some plants. We shall see how it works

lol, I know I sound like a broken record but make sure to spray all host plant material, I mean all cannabis plants. Don’t give it a toe hold to re-infest from.

No problem. they will be soaked. Went thru an infestation 1.5 years back…tried all the well mentioned organic methods, so I’ll have something to compare the sulfur to. At the time, I was using a garlic spray which worked good if the garlic spray was freshly made. Then it would fizzle out and not do much as time went by. Anyway once I got to harvest my problem was over so I didn’t pursue it. I’ll be thrilled if it works as easy as 2 sprays.

Cool, thanks. I wish I had some samples in person, but also don’t want it around here.

if your talking to me about downy, its not on cannabis its on the grass , as in lawn and weeds ect. I grow indoors, but have to worry now.

Ah ok.
