White powdery mildew, what do I do?

ya to any of those who knock @JoeCrowe 's “cure” for the powdery mildew that affects cannabis… time to get with the program and off the hate train.

I had it at the end of last season from the plants I took in and it made it from the deck on the house, into the greenhouse and into my indoor rooms. I had a pretty mild infection but it was still on multiple plants.
I sprayed my plants, pots, rooms and the empty greenhouse last season. Then I sprayed the greehouse and 10 feet around it and I added sulphur to my soil mixes.
We went from 12c overnight/30C + during daytime for about 10 days and the sudden switch to wet weather, overcast and +2C over night and +10C during the day with heavy rains.
It’s 84% humidity @12C in the greenhouse right now so if any molds are gonna show… mother nature and my greenhouse have pretty much been providing the perfect rearing conditions. Will spray the plants before they go into flower that’s for sure.
Have not seen a spec of PM since I began using Joecrowe’s methods so therre’s 2 things I will say to that… PM is not systemic and wettable suphur sprays kill it dead dead dead.

Sulpher is no bullshit I’ve since chucked my cease and exspensive shit.A bottle of Bonide Sulpher cost me 15$ and has lasted me 6 months and I still have half a bottle. That Cease set me back 100$ screw that.

It is ruined, there is nothing you can do,don’t smoke it and move on to a strain that doesn’t do that or take steps so it doesn’t happen again if possible…JMO.Good luck.

You just break the life cycle of the powdery mildew and it’s gone for good. Once the parasite has taken hold in your grow, either outdoors or indoors, it can be easily eradicated with a sulfur dose. If the area where your plants grow is infested with downed plant material, the mildew keeps regenerating from there.
Once the mildew detects a compatible plant, it starts replicating and infesting. Quite a number of people have extincted mildew in their grow, as it just costs 15 cents to treat the infestation.

Not sure if it’s been asked but I also got pm from clones.

So when I get snips could I just give them a dunk in the sulfur water mixture to prevent reinfection?

Yah you can either:

  1. inspect with UV for mildew colonies then treat them if you see it
  2. just treat them in case there’s mildew

My caution is this: If the clone donor used an oil based spray in the previous 30 days it will burn holes in your plant.

Thanks for that, a lot of clone shippers do spray before sending. So that’s a good point.

Is this the start of pm? My leaves have little blisters but I feel like I’ve seen them before without ever getting pm. Jus took a dab and may be paranoid idk

Looks like leaf trichomes to me.

Yeah I say on my page that I took a big dab and that I think it was ok! :joy:

I was paranoid so bad. This is one of the few strains I’ve personally grown that starts to throw trichcomes on day 16-20 of flower!

These days if I see some outside I just crack out the sulfur right away. Once that shit enters the scene it halts the infestation in it’s tracks. It’s not much of a threat! It’s easier to keep things clean indoors by not bringing in infected material. In the greenhouse someone is always bringing in some new infested plant.

Have you tried the Dr zymes? I’ve heard people rave about it! It’s just citric acid I think… but it breaks down everything and keeps your flower safe for consumption!

It won’t exterminate the mildew though, it’ll keep surviving.

Mmmmmm wettable sulfur. Went 4 weeks in veg of letting that stay on the plant in my grow tent with zero issues. Thrips are a son of a bitch to get rid of.

I’ll check that out!

Just don’t use sulpher on flowering plants…unless you like the taste of sulpher.

Hey @JoeCrowe I was wondering if you’ve found any more about which plants and their pm’s effect cannabis?

You know I got rid of pm in my grow with sulfur sprays almost 2 years ago. A little more than a month ago, I found a few spots on a plant that was 50 days into bloom.

Obviously, I couldn’t spray, and still smoke it. Luckily I hadn’t sold my UV-c light, and I think I caught it early enough that I could control it.

We had some zinnias, some bee balm, and some verbena with it this summer. They were in areas I hadn’t sulfur sprayed. I hadn’t taken in any pot plants, so I’m pretty sure I brought it in from outside.

Anyway, the pm plant was in a separate tent, about 10’ from another tent, and 15’ from an open bloom area, and some veg tents. Fans blowing everywhere, and every which way. Bunch of plants in all stages of growth.

None of the other plants were, or have been, infected. I was pretty careful not to mess with them after messing with the pm’d one, but maybe you can shorten that 10 meter distance down to 9’!

I’m sulfuring the whole yard, lol!

I should get to testing that out. I only tried the mildew growing on the sweet peas so far. I thought it was ironic that it’s harder to tell the mildew apart using gene sequencing, than it is to just look under the microscope and see how different they are. Unfortunately I don’t have sunflower mildew, ragweed or dahlias with mildew. I suppose I could cruise walmart in the spring with my UV flashlight looking for infected plants to test.
