Why so many regs?

Take a gander through this when you have time

I like to breed M/F to make seeds. I find this more natural.

I persist and I sign : Fem seeds are GMO!!!

@Roms Well, you don’t leave a lot of room for arguments when you don’t provide any yourself. So I guess it’s all ideology and that is something I respect, but not something that can be discussed objectively. A good way to hide behind flawed ideas.

Super interesting, they didn’t really get to a conclusion on dioecy, other then that we need to do even more research on the topic. But what I found most interesting is that they see evidence that dioecy have occurred separately multiple times.

Also another interesting thing was that hemp and cannabis can’t be divided into separate groups. That European hemp is very inbred and specific, but hemp in other parts of the world have more in common with cannabis then the European hemp.

Feel free to poke me if you find other interesting papers. :pray:t2:

Hahahaha… No no no, I’m very keen to learn more about cannabis. I learned a lot of new facts from the “Breeding potent cannabis” thread and you just sent me a paper which gave me a lot of new information.

Science is like laying a never ending puzzle where you have to look at every evidence and see how it fits into the whole picture. There is obviously a reason for dioecy to be present in cannabis. But I’m not sure that it’s because of the reason hobby growers tend to think. Usually it’s more related to how a species perform without the intervention of humans.

Im just a smart ass who enjoys a good read and seeing what everyone has for info and experimenting with it.I can see all arguments to an extent all except the Feminized seed is a GMO.That one to me would fall under more Crop steering (just barely )more than Actually modifying a organisms DNA and splicing other things into it The only way im mentioning Crop steering is by the changes in the plants environment being the Methods for delivering Reversal be it STS or Rhodilization .I could be wrong with the wording on that but i think you will get the idea

That’s polemic. Today screening by PCR isn’t a scifi thing.

Even with a traditionnal selection after this, and even if the DNA isn’t directly modified, it fall in the GMO matrix.

No, traditionally in botany, feminization through hormone blockers doesn’t fall under GMO, since you don’t modify any DNA. There is cases where breeders reverse plants through CRISPR and that is definitely GMO. But that is not what we do with ethylene blocking substances.

I dont know about that one are you sure??whats your though process on how Sex reversal in plants is altering thier genetic code?

I was talking about lines developped with a genotype screened by PCR buddy, not reversal.

Calling GMO a screening with the help of PCR tests is maybe stretching a bit the definition. There’s no foreign DNA injection or gene modification in that case. Sure the genepool is modified but no more than with a screening performed for example by a smoke test. It’s just a different technology to help the screening.

I learned the bad way the flaw and the impact of an automated pre-screening with chromatos. Just this and i start to have reserves ^^

Now to mass-PCRize a population to decipher an enigma or to clean a pool … hell just yeah lol

So im curious how is using a PCR test inserting non native dna into a plants generic make up?I was under the pretense that a laboratory and high tech equipment was involved and that things that were not in the original plant Dna makeup would be inserted into the Subject and a new Plant was created. When i think of it i think about how scientists created those little small fry fish but they were Bioluminescent by inserting jellyfish dna into them when they made the eggs up or like Spidergoats the ones that could be milked for silk by Creating them with spider Dna spliced into thier DNA
