Spent a good amount of time researching HOCl today at the suggestion of @Nitt and @BudBusterPro. Wish it hadn’t have taken me a week and a half to get to.

I’m sold. I was out snipping suspicious sections of 907 colas today. Zero fucking tolerance for anything questionable. Anyway, the jug is due to arrive Tuesday, I’ll give them a healthy spray down to kill any of the spores remaining. It sounds too good to be true. I hope it stops my existing mold dead. And my BT treatments continue to obviate the shitterpillars, although the HOCl will kill the BT so I’ll stagger the treatments. Double-pronged (triple if you count rain protection) fork of budrot attack.

I have a feeling I’m overreacting when most folks just chop a few colas and are thankful they have a few that are OK. But I can’t stand to see it.

I’m in the opposite situation of dear @ColeLennon, where he has a few extra plants he can lose (not that anyone wants to, I’m bummed for his losses of DJ Short BB and Wonder Dawg RIP), I only have the ones I want. No surplus. No mercy for me and no mercy for shitterpillars or botrytis.

Cheers boys. Gonna smoke to the thoughts of dead fungus tonight. Thanks for bringing it up @Nitt

I find when presented with something that reminds me that I don’t have it as bad as others I often get ideas that are useful, maybe it relieves some anger or frustration I’ve been bottling and processes it as empathy.

Think about some of these monster colas that will never be smoked. RIP.

Was just reminiscing about bubblegum earlier, probably was not yours but a Dutch version, a kind of hazy what I’m guessing they describe as “church” like incense smell from it but seemed like real mellow indica but powerful. Sounds very Dutch now that I type it out lol Was nice though.

That is such a perfect backyard plant right there, are you sure you can really fit all this bud in your drying room? Which was a very cool read btw.

Sheesh. :worried:

That’s enough to reconsider my desire to grow outside. And whether or not I want to move to the PNW. I love rain, but l don’t love September/October rains anymore.

I think IBG is going to be a great smoke. It’s got gorgeous structure and buds. 907 I’m really looking forward to but the bud-rot threat is exaggerated (in my head) by it’s comparatively small size. I feel like I lucked out getting all the smells I wanted, and missing the blueberry would be a bummer. The IBG I got from @ColeLennon smells like big-league chew, it’s crazy. I’m thinking mine will wind up being somewhere between that and what you describe. It’s definately getting more of a typical “weed” aroma influence going on - I think it’ll be hard to know for a couple weeks once she’s down and dry.

I’m pretty sure it’ll fit. Last year almost exactly the same time I stuffed it full I think this is going to work out really well this season. Anything I can’t fit will get fresh frozen. It’s got about a 2-3 pound dry weight capacity. That seems like a huge amount of weed to me right now I think one plant at a time will go fine. I’m stocked on big grove bags. I expect I’ll get the IBG in there, then I’ll need to hustle it thru trim to clear the cabinet for 907, then hustle trim that and get Panalawi down when frost starts to threaten - it’s all going almost exactly to “plan.”

Other hilarious news: The in-laws are having an “adult” halloween party my girl suggested we dress as Cheech and Chong. She’s gotta be Cheech, so Chong it is for me. I warned her that I can’t just dress like that and NOT continuously smoke weed. Looking forward to IBG joints/blunts this size. I think I’m gonna need a good mix of Hella Jelly J’s to stay awake long enough to enjoy that sort of event.

How’s your grow coming along @shade ?

If it wasn’t for the fishing and hunting I wouldn’t want to live up here… The rain and cold can really suck. I’d really like to live in Kauai. That’s my pipe dream.
Outside the plants grow so strong and vigorous, they look so great, then the rain comes and everything will start to turn to shit if the right precautions aren’t taken. It’s still fun. I always end up with plenty.

Here’s what I have going on…

The past few years weren’t like this at all, and October was very unusually dry and warm. Of course I chose this year to try an outdoor grow and it was not the right choice: septoria and mildew are bonkers here; and the main reason imo (for growing) that you don’t want to live in a place like this is the high concentration of grows around you, and how that can contribute to contamination.
The valley south of PDX is filled with light dep greenhouses now, they’ll be harvested pure sativas in two months time. We had one project cancel this spring to set one up and I bet that guy is in some serious pain this morning chopping rot etc. Big upfront costs can be involved, but something tells me you might be able to do something cheaper using your knowledge with rpis/etc.

It’s funny how we are just assume one cut is better than a later version etc based on when it’s said to have been circulating. Surely the 80s skunk was better than the stuff I grew in the 2000’s right? Well I was born after desert storm so how the hell would I know :joy: the old heads I know have memories worse than mine and that’s saying something. The Dutch incense is something I like, but potency and effect are king for me, and that’s something I think you’ll probably get more of regardless of aesthetics.

At least when you get too high to talk everyone will think you’re just doing some great performance acting

I don’t know how to calculate weight from a photo but that IBG looks huge to me in weight. Just awesome, indoors you’ll start to really appreciate indica structures with more nuanced effects (the “sativa” leaners in effect that grow like afghans). That would stuff a tent just right. Such a perfect plant truly.

Getting the brute of it today. I can say they are at least not on the ground. You can’t control the weather. Going to lose something if you grow outdoors. Seasons not over yet. Cannabis are hardy sturdy mofos. :100:

No joke man. It’s sad seeing all these gardens get ravaged. All the love and care all summer. We’re all at the mercy of the weather at the end of the day. Looks like today was the worst of it for you guys up there NW.

Here in NM it seems most of the people who want to get into the pot business have NO idea what they are doing. Maybe they smoke pot all day, but they know little about growing. I’ve been asked questions that really make me wonder. People setup huge grows here in the valley with no idea about what to do when it’s time to harvest. Seriously?

I’ve thought about a light-dep greenhouse. I just don’t have the time/space to do something like that. I’d have to be super bored over the winter to hobble something together. But I do think I’m going to pursue something to make this easier next summer.

Pot is a weird thing. Kinda like wine or bourbon, definately powered by memories and often romanticized. But I’ve definately been chasing memories. Back in the days when I used to smoke a lot, best times of my life. That and particular effects I want as an adult. I’ve mostly made my selections based on those criteria this season. Obviously I did a poor job selecting for mold resistance because I naively assumed “it’s the desert, how much mold could I really get”

It’s inevitable. And perfect :sunglasses:

I had the same feeling about the Snow-G and Hella Jelly last season. They just had nice structures and were totally manageable. Granted, they needed a lot of support. Outside, not so fantastic, but indoors, yeah I totally see it. Trellis would have been :money_with_wings: :moneybag:

I was browsing my seed inventory before bed last night pondering what’s first in the tent. I want something that’ll go easy on me for my first time. FDM has me sold on his work maybe C99 or Sweet Tooth #4.

I’m kinda of liking the rain soaked look and smell. Oooh that smell can’t ya smell that smell.

We got some rugged rain here too, thankfully no obvious damage just colas leaning

LOL you can see Panalawi colas sideways by the shed. 907 is short enough to stay vertical

Too dark for pics but the HOCl arrived. Shook off all the extra water and sprayed it lightly. :crossed_fingers:

I’m ready to take down IBG this weekend. She’s beautiful and reaching her peak

Doing the dope fiend lean. My third outdoor. After this last rain, I’m over it. Just a free bud wash. That panalawi is lookng like my PQ.

It’s time. She’s mostly browned pistils and a few amber trichs going on, not seeing any clears except for the fresh bracts. Here’s the IBG trichs:

Smells delightful. Not pure “Bazooka Joe” but beatiful sweet musky odor with strong “similarity” to bubblegum. Had I not gotten that sample from @ColeLennon I’d think this was IT.

Too dark for me to take full plant pics.

The 907 is declining in health. Between grasshoppers and IPM/budrot mitigation lots of crispy and broken leaves. I think she’s gonna be lucky to make it more than another week or two. I’m gonna keep her going as long as I can. I think @shade is right IBG is packing more bud weight than I thought and I’m not going to have much room if any to get 907 chopped and drying unless I can keep her alive another 2 weeks. I may just dry the A++ colas of IBG and freeze the rest so I always have room for an emergency 907 chop. Will revaluate when harvesting the IBG in the daylight and make the best decision I can.

Panalawi is blowing up. Ridiculous. Colas that are multiple feet long sticking everywhere. I don’t have any idea what I’m going to do with it all, she’s full steam ahead right now. It’s kinda ridiculous. The others are starting to die off, she’s just warmed up and flying down the track

P.S. I hate grasshoppers and moths.

It is it. Get yourself some 1LB grove bags. That Bazooka Joe will come out. :100:

LOL I’m already stocked with grove bags. I’ve got 4 2lb, 6 1lb, and 12 4oz ready-to-go. There is NO WAY I’m running out of those.

If I run tight on schedule I’ll just pack untrimmed buds in the 2lb sacks to clear the dry cabinet out.

There’s certainly a plan, and backup plans, they’re just all dubious

That put the biggest smile on my face I’ve had all day :sunglasses:

More than enough. I got last year’s whole harvest in 3-1b groves, minus the 1/2 lb I gave my trim buddy let’s say 3/4 lb I also sent him home with a garbage bag of untrimmed popcorn buds for each of the 3 strains we havested. You have plenty. Wait a min. Your harvesting whole plants. Still I say 3-2lb groves, with room to spare. Wager?

I have lost all connection between weight and weed because it’s mostly irrelevant now. I am getting my car detailed for a quart bag of Snow-G today. I have several quart bags remaining in inventory. That’s all I need to know.

I won’t bag anything fresh but in case I don’t have time to trim I wanted some extra room to loosely store big buds somewhere before they get worked on. Hopefully the bowl trimmer helps with that as well. Wishing I got the death fan after I saw the video that PigeonMan posted.

I feel like IBG is healthily over the pound threshold. If a pound is a decent weight for an outdoor plant all of my girls are overeating. 907 is really going to depend how much survives. Panalawi only god knows, hopefully she’s able to finish. :cowboy_hat_face:

Cheers buds () have a great day! Hopefully back tonight with pre-chop daylight pics.

Welcome to the dark side. I don’t weigh anything anymore. We got weed for dayz… :sunglasses: :metal: Get to that point in trimming were just say fuck it. Get a trim buddy that will take untrimmed popcorn buds home.

I measure in volume now. Like I’ve got 3 gallons of weed.
