its been almost 6 months since my last grow and looking to be several more until my home renovations wrap up. Im going to treat myself to an entirely new system, previously i was literally just growing in my closet. the acinifinity 4x4 tent system looked fairly decent. i did some searching and it seems like quiet a few of you run something similar.
would a 4x4 flood tray fit inside? no right? i was thinking a 3x3 tray would fit better overall. i dont need to maximum floor space or yield and the extra space might be nice for accessibility. i was thinking id need a few items to make this work
3x3 flood tray
pump / hose / timer / ebb flow fittings
tray stand. was thinking of getting a metal one
a reservoir (possibly w/ lid?)
air stones and pump
ph meter. could use recommendations
i currently use jacks321 with pure coco that i hand feed once every other day. works wonderfully. Is this a reasonable plan? i dont see many of you using flood trays, has is been replaced with something better?
Flood trays come in either ID (inside dimensions) or OD (outside dimensions ) measurements That means your 48” flood tray might fit, depending on if it’s measured from the inside of the tray (ID) or outside. A 48” ID tray is closer to 50” edge to edge.
I run 36” trays in my 48” tents just cuz it’s easier and you aren’t giving up any canopy space, so why not? They are cheaper too.
Which is probably why you don’t see them in use a lot - they’ve become damn expensive and shipping costs are outrageous. Good luck! I grow hydro drip drain to waste in trays - check out my grow logs if you’d like.
I have a 4x4 tent and have tried to fit a 4x4 tray. The 4x4 trays just don’t fit unless you trim them up. I ended up w/ a 3x3 w/ no modifications and have no need for more floor space. I think if you want a 4x4 footprint you should get a 5x5 tent.
Edit: I’ve been trying to remember which 4x4 tray I tried. I think it was a botanicare low-tide. They’re 48”x48” OD… all the corners rubbed and it wouldn’t sit level
