Hey guys! As I am limited to single plant status I want to get the absolute most out of my product. I have been looking at bho oil extraction under vacuum, I’m looking to get a finished product for vaping. Either shatter or oil.
I’ve been trying to research about the different models from budget units to high end and all in between.
One that I feel looks high quality and not overpriced. The ablaze mini extraction kit with splatter platter.
Have any of you guys used it? Or can recommend other units that I’ll be able to achieve quality product with a safe quality made unit. I’ll be using small bud and trim to extract from. Any advice and recommendations are appreciated. Peace guys!

Can’t help much as I’ve recently lost my “goodie maker” as well as all the damn toys we bought her! (Long story) so now I’m looking to reobtain the toys for myself and make my own, rosin, hash rosin, fSE, shatter, hash etc.

I don’t know if it really is or not, comparing it to budget models that aren’t pressure tested etc there’s no real difference in price. That’s why I landed on this one but I’d love other suggestions!
I won’t be buying it for 5 months or so so plenty of time for me to learn more and hopefully find other good options, stay free brother peace

This looks like a way better option for 100$ im almost tempted to get it my self.The real question it does the oil still have to be put in a vacume chamber to purge it properly?
This is a very controversial topic. For one, butane, unless purified manually through the use of a closed loop system will contain mystery oil and people will say it’s not a clean product. Also, there always comes with the risk of explosion. Just to note, I am not judging, I actually open blasted this morning and I use and have used for years the glass tubes from extractionpros that I got off Amazon.
In terms of purging, you absolutely can vacuum the bho out, and if you’re looking for more of a shatter or pull n snap, that’s the way to go. For the last year or so, I’ve not been purging at all, and what I do is let all the butane boil off and then I just whip it every few hours and that creates more of a crumble, butter, or sugar consistency. The reason I am doing this is because for 1 butane evaps off at room temp, and 2 when I was vacuum purging, I would often not know when to stop as it would just keep bubbling for days and I’ve heard it reported that sometimes the bubbling is actually volatile terps evaporating.
My goal is to create the terpiest extract possible, I only make live resin and live rosin, so that’s just where I landed in terms of making the terpiest product I could. This is all anecdotal, as there are little to no scientific studies on this stuff and may all be bro science, so take with a grain of salt.

I have used open blast contraptions like this but it’s not something I do anymore. I never really felt comfortable with so much butane gas escaping everywhere even though I did it outside. Plus, a buddy had one of those metal tubes almost explode on him. It cracked, then failed quickly after but thankfully didn’t shoot any shrapnel or anything.it was still scary AF though. lol
I also didn’t like the idea of potential butane left behind in the end product.
A buddy bought one of those cheap little purge devices that you just stick over a plate on a table or whatever but I still never trusted it was truly clean.
I bought rosin press plate kit (from DabPress) + a nice shop press and I haven’t looked back.
I went way overboard on the shop press. Got a nice Dake B-10. But it’s overkill for sure.
I wanted one with a pressure gauge and one that could sit on a table top + be tilted over easily for drip tech. The pressure gauge is definitely nice to have but I could’ve done without it. You get a feel pretty quickly for how much pressure is needed.
I’ve also never went anywhere close to 10 ton of pressure. Most times I am near 1-2 ton, depending on if it’s flower or hash (1 ton for hash, 2-2.5 for flower, usually). Maybe 3 ton for a 2nd press.
I still haven’t really figured out a good way to make vape carts from rosin though. I know there’s a couple ways to do it. I have seen people just heat the rosin up in a jar in an oven (on low temp) for 24+/- hours until it stops bubbling, then fill carts but I’ve never tried it.
I did try using one of those “liquidizer” products that was available years back but only did it once and didn’t like the results. That’s also when all those people were getting sick from smoking those bad carts (with vitamin E liquid in them) so that scared me off from those.
I did try adding pure terpenes too but, again, it wasn’t what I was looking for.
Now I just smoke the rosin with a Lookah Seahorse Pro. It’s not the best for on the go. But at home sessions it’s awesome.

I think I’ll give it a try next time I make hash rosin. All I need is the glass syringe. I think I have everything else including new empty ccell carts.

I used to open blast all the time but it truly is very risky.
And yes you need to purge in a vac oven
I put my extraction efforts towards hash rosin these days.
I like bho and wish I had the proper equipment and facilities to make it safely but I don’t so I think my blasting days are over

What did you find so dangerous about the blasting mate? Did you have a closed loop system?
And ive had some quality bho but nit rosin which di yiu think is better and why?
Id love to play around with both getting a smalll rosi press and a small jacketed closed loop extraction system. To compare the quality of the final product. I wish I was handy enough to make my own rosin press but i fear the electronic system is too complex for me to work out how to make

Blasting is dangerous because you’re dealing with high pressures of potentially explosive gas. I’ve been blasting for years and years, and of the 5 or 6 other people I know personally that open blast, 2 have had explosions. Risks can be highly motivated by being smart and checking your tubes, but you can’t ever 100% account for all possibilities.
I have a closed loop system and a rosin press. Personally I think properly done live rosin is better than live resin, but there are only certain strains that wash and press well. For efficiency BHO is a bit better as to me BHO is like science and rosin making is like art, and you have to determine on the fly how many runs in the wash you’ll have to do for how long, what the temps on the press will be and you inevitably lose out on some product that just isn’t on the same level as the initial washes.
Also, a fully optimized Rosin setup would be: washing machine, bubble bags, freeze dryer, and press. Whereas you can kinda keep adding shit to a BHO system: jacketed columns for dry ice to keep the material as cold as possible for dewaxing, then you need a nitrogen push because your pressures are too low due to cold, then you need a column for dewaxing or light CRC, then you need sight glasses to make sure proper flow, then you need an explosion proof pump to speed up recovery of the butane, and it just goes on and on.
