Def not the only one! Herms are so grower to grower, its impossible to say whats “good” or “bad” in that sense. Ive grown over 150 Bodhi packs/repros, and have never seen a herm ever. Talking to friends, I think not feeding too heavy may be a factor. But its impossible to say for sure. Cuz Ill run em in wild heat with no AC and everything.
Ive seen similar. Epigenetics is what he’s referring to. When I learned it from old hill growers they’d call it getting climatized.
So much Bodhi work is really magical, and really deserves the group effort to preserve and spread. Ive seen so much amazing medicine, as well as downright fun effects from his work.
Bodhi spends a lot of time stabilizing these lines. I was a Bodhi tester and most of the lines he tries, no-one ever sees. Only the most stable lines get through. The landrace stuff is for preservation and he says to do them outside. People work it towards something better but that means culling instability over multiple generations. Supernatural selections have been bred from landraces to be ran indoors. You can do whatever you want but if Bodhi spends five or ten years or more on a line so people can grow it and then you find a herm and grow it then you are actually going backwards. There’s a reason he separates all these different lines. Neireka/medicine mountain/supernatural selections and his regular stuff. He says himself all of this and there needs to be a separation. A herm can ruin someone’s crop and most people do not want that.
@CocoaCoir How many Bodhi lines are really worked 5-10 years? Most are F1s. I know Bodhi tests his lines, and holds onto them for years before letting them out of the stable, but he hasn’t worked his released lines in the sense of moving them forward generations that I am aware.
The point is, just because one person has a herm, doesn’t mean that same plant would have exhibited that trait in a different grow under a different grower. It may or may not be a replicable experience, it could be an outlier. Based on that, for me, I think the risk is worth the reward.
What Bodhi can put out as a vendor to make a living, and what dedicated hobbyists are willing to take on knowingly (for free BTW) for an opportunity to work with rare genetics are not comparable to me. Keeping genetics alive that would otherwise be lost is not moving backwards. It lives to fight another day, and then you can take it where you want from there.
This is why the Dreadbread F2’s are in my fridge and not going around yet, I’d feel so guilty if someone’s medicine or livelihood was negatively affected over seeds I gave out…
I gotta at least test them out and see what’s up.
Can’t just give them out in good conscience without ruling out issues I may have caused
I have a pack of his TV (viet7 x CBG Destroyer (Thai leaning pearl pheno) if someone wants to f2 the pack.
I grabbed it from dagga when they did the drop, but won’t be getting to these until next spring when I pop em outdoor and make selections, but think it’ll be better suited for the community as an F2. TV
Does anyone have a list of when the various dads ceased to be of this earth? I know I came across something recently that had dates for a few, it’d be nice to have one list with all the dads on it.
It’s only out on the Patreon feed at the moment, should go out to the public fairly soon (The Potcast, it’s available on Soundcloud and from the usual podcast distributors).
I know the Bubbashine, Snow lotus, SSDD, 88G13HP, Wookie dads are all retired to my knowledge but I wonder about other things like his Kashmir, and Strawberry Milk dad etc and the dates each male was retired
Does anyone know why this topic says it will delete in 6 days? I’d like to have this topic stick around longer. It was originally set to deleted 6 months after the last reply.
