Wait. If I take someone’s work that is being sold by them for high dollar, f2 it and dole it out like candy, for free, doesn’t that make me the scammer.

My father’s, sisters, step dads, second cousins dogs house burnt down with my stash of seeds , does this make me eligible for free seeds ?

I think. Even if your dog died. One would still need to do the time and be a part of the community and earn rep. Then sure opportunity for fall and spring seed pack. Too all. If any member wants to share their seed stock with any member even new. That’s between them and any B.S that may apply. It’s not rocket science.

I joined, but never really participated much at Rollitup.org. It was the stuff like this thread kep me away. A different pissing match mostly. I’m not used to having to be selective.
I’d rather organize my sock drawer then try to find much of value in some of this. It’s not even entertaining.

im buying seed from breeders that are legends that nobody even talks about anymore dont send me seed i will never have time to grow it out

I’m building a small seed collection. I haven’t planted a seed since I grew my first nursery clone in 2021. Why spend the limited time and work on a gamble? No brainer. No space to pheno hunt. I wouldn’t want too if I had the space. Leave that to better growers than I.

All in all, it was good to discuss this topic.
So some valid solutions were born in this thread.
- Neighborhood weed watch.
- A trade based feedback in place of pips.
Maybe would could have come up with more or a better solution if we had all worked together but the way it went down we did not do a whole lot to help each other find a solution to this common problem.
Maybe if we pulled together next time the results will be different.

Based on what they’ve conveyed I would unequivocally trust THEM. Everyone knows I didn’t come here FOR seed.
I came with a project out of the gate to crack a mystery that was labeled a slang. I already had collected and bought what I needed, even a few along the way. For everyone saying “what are you losing” ? I’ll tell you what you lose, time and your own stash. Don’t anyone tell me it’s not a SACRIFICE to make seed!
When you play with live pollen there’s going to be a reduced yield even what you’re not pollinating, unless it’s collected and isolated from the rest of the crop. T
There’s more effort involved, shucking, sorting, pressure testing and germination testing seed, than trimming and drying buds. Hours more. Do you like spending your hours and reduced yields for people to take off with your work ? I don’t! It’s bud I could have used, and we all know it’s ‘never enough’ but I’ve caught one individual on IG who wanted CripXmas, seeing they have their own branded seeds I declined to send, so @shag is right.
Maybe other people don’t value time spent to make the work of 3-4 generations and close to 33 months, but there’s a discernible difference that a simple cross or hybrid chuck, and make no mistake what I have has value. Countless scammers would love to get these and make F2’s and mess up what I was accomplishing. I don’t want my work associated with that kind of shady grower. Several tried to make a few posts and expects to get seed, those that are following and participate will get MORE from me.
Already have yet another who thinks they don’t have to honor an agreement. Nobody is forced to accept my terms either, but if they do I consider it binding. Break it, and that individual is deemed of questionable character and trustworthiness.
Do all of you want to know how serious keeping your word is ? It was the year 2000, Airborne made a bet with a guy called la.bud on a the superbowl, Airborne lost. Everyone told him to PAY the bet. I told Airborne don’t do this and welsh. He DID NOT want to pay it, and left the crew. He was never heard from after, I was disappointed we lost him over a stupid bet, but there’s a lesson. I’m about what’s right and Airborne was a closer friend to me than anyone, I still lost him. I truly believe this this private story speaks volumes to the situation.
Here’s my suggestions
3 strikes - simply if ANY member gets 3 negative reports on the trade thread, they should no longer be TRUSTED. That’s not restricted or rules. It’s risk of their own volition they take. Most members will know that individual breaks agreements made not do trades. End of problem.
I’m taking careful note of whose avatar I see in FREE seed threads. If there constantly for dibs and whatever, no thanks, not the person I can TRUST
I see MORE members signed up for the Birthday giveaway than those who truly wanted to grow and provide details that allows me insight to all aspects that confirms all traits and characteristics. I was happy to give those random seeds away, but I’m observant to patterns shown.
You won’t see me doing that every week or month though, mine will be selective and small amounts. Not interested in fan fare. I care more about what I’ve worked on being in trusted hands than the unscrupulous ones. I don’t see a benefit to constantly giveaway.
Quickly I’m charitable, and we know some black folk, we are nice to them, but they look at us like a bank. It’s always can I borrow 10 or 20 bucks, sure 1st, 2nd, 3rd, by the 10th time it’s not gratuitous, it’s expected and the whole family does it. It’s all you’re good for, to come get cash. Same point with the seed. Are you just good for your seed ? I don’t want to be seen that way.
Don’t care to be popular to GIVE my seed away. I was always an outcast. I’d rather seek those who’re deserving to run, who know the ropes than those those with their hands out “gimme dat” and why should I ? Have you EARNED it or just to ‘collect’ from me ?
Tried to reign in a collector here, and he took off with the bait for me to see if that’s enough to cease his behavior. I know his kind well now and if they rattle off more cultivars than can be grown in one year I’m not even responding back. Members that PM out of the blue will be looked into throughly before offering. Participate and engage, and I’m going to offer than those who think they can stop by when seed is ready to roll out. Think again!
