Allergies to cannabis plants

Well, it probably isn’t the pot. :performing_arts:

My botafumeiros plant leaves made me scratch my skin off and the strawberry diesels made my nose and eyes run.

Mine is apparently (based on two biopsies) a late onset psoriasis/excema combo whose epigenetic trigger may have been thrown by my grow but the trim didn’t exacerbate it and the cure hasn’t cured it.

Bummer! You using cortisone to help that excema or do they have you on steroids?

Edit: Having asked that, over use of cortisone is what killed Bruce Lee, but that was from injections. Cortisone cream isn’t systemic

Three weeks on, one week off corticosteroids. Doesn’t seem correlated to good/bad days. Learning scratch discipline seems to be the key.

Keep your stress low too. It helps. Poor thing! I feel for you man, truly. I’m allergic to everything and I had excema when I was younger, so I can relate. It’s miserable.

I always get them on my wrist and forearms. Especially at harvest. Antihistamines work but I usually just live with it. Occupational hazard.

I went through a year of having to use an allergy med before I chopped, they were making me puke, the Canna made me projectile vomit lol for real, crazy, That has stopped, but I itch, and my nose is always full, but I am allergic to the world, so used to it. As long as I don’t itch my forehead, that is where it starts I am OK< but if I rub it, my whole body itches lol. I used to use streroids creams, a friend bought me some Vit A, D, E lotion, and for some reason works as well as the steroid cream.

Yup, bumps n itchy from contact and trimming, oh my god the bunged up nose.
Long gloves, jacket and a vent sucking the air is a must.
When it gets bad, cortisone cream and clairtyn, smoking can be a bit iffy, extracts are perfectly fine.

Pruning yesterday… itchy as hell! Vegging plants screw me up. Once they flower I’m usually okay. Any plants with pinene kill me all the way through though

Peace @Jetdro I think this may be due to pollen on the buds after cure. I have noticed this as well but not all the time. I suspect that although not viable (supposedly) it is still an agitator to Our mucus membrane. I could be wrong but have U burned bud that U grew and had this problem?? Same type of thing for me and chemical nutes verses organic. I get hella gas buildup in my chest after smoking some bud (it is my theory that it comes from the chemical nutes which may add too much nitrogen and hence “nitrates” like from a Turkey sandwich or hot dogs).
I think U may be better off growing ur own and knowing that there is no pollen present… my opinion from what I have encountered. This is my 2cents

Peace

I’m dyin from allergy too. Especially when trimming / touching plants in the morning. Itching, hives, eyes itching. Tho not sure about pollen. Its true about different strains makes different reaction. Sometimes I dont really notice it at all. But most horrible season for me is harvesting outdoor season. There are a lot of leaves and richomes dust I guess, thats why. Sometimes I dont even can think, because sneezing is so hard.

Everythings good until you touch your nose and eyes. Goin’ fo a walk after experiencing symptoms works very great, so I usually just do so.

Also, some people noticing that Im coughing too loud, much louder than the others. Might be cuz of allergy too. Or just im that junky

Got follow-up empirical data for fellow sufferers.

I continued with topical steroids daily 3/4 weeks of the month and light therapy twice a week. I have done this steadily since the beginning in '19. Both have helped.

After three years of constant growing I took it all down at the end of the summer for mental health reasons. This corresponded to a significant decrease in my skin issues.

This month I stopped consuming in order to write a draft of a novel. After failed attemps the last two years (repeated successes the prior years), this will be my first win since my involvement with growing and regular cannabis use began.

My skin issues have completely subsided. I have not needed the steroids at all this month.

Next month I will likely experiment with moderate use.
