How many of you guys are running a sub panel for your grows? If not, why not? (Outside of a small grow). How many want to put a sub panel in, but just do not know how or are scared to do it? Would a DIY write up on it help anyone?
I for one like a sub panel off a panel
unless I am going to the main
it is so ez to disconnect a sub panel and not have to turn off
everything
I do have a disconnect after my meters here with separate mains beakers
I am not a electrician but I can build to a standard
but always shut off the power as I am afraid of electricity
all the best and be safe

I run my sub right from the meter feed, so maybe technically not a sub panel per sey, but I much prefer it that way.
And my set up is slightly different. I run 3 phase into my room, then break it down to single 120/220 in the room, with each leg having 100amp feeds.
always better to be safe than sorry
worked for a tree service back in the early 80’s
did lots of storm work on lines, saw a guy with wet wood tools
crosses the mains and toast
always try to error on the side of caution
be safe and stay free

My job requirements are safety . I do allot of 480v wiring. Industrial stuff.
I wish home owning so I get 220 single phase breaks down to 110
three phase so many cheap tools out there for sale
all the best

I just got real lucky. Had no idea the place we bought had 3 phase.
that is why I eat canna pills
it make people nervous when they see you hitting joints
enjoy the day

Damn, there are so many choices for power equipment with 3 phase!!
I know I love it…hahaha. The ironic thing is, I paid less for my property and house than the cost of having 3 phase installed
the Milling equipment, Lathes etc.
with all the dead factories around
go to an auction and you can a machine shop, wood shop
for pennies on the dollar

I ran a sub panel for my room, wasn’t really necessary. I have 220 and 120 breakers but dont even use the 220, although I’d like to. Just never figured out the correct way to wire 220 into a sonoff 4 Chan, then into the mean well drivers. Where I’m stuck is the 220 has 2 hots, but the sonoff and driver only have a spot for one live wire. Something you think you’d be able to give me a pointer on?
are they 110/220 unit or just 110?
if the are 110 only that is where you are at
all the best

When I was about 8 - 9, watched a neighbor get electrocuted frigging with a Service Panel. The sight/memory stays with me. I can wire a frigging house to code (2 way, 3 way lights/switches), but WON’T touch a Service Panel, prefer to task that to Electrician friends. They can’t understand my reluctance. EVERYONE, do enjoy a pleasant weekend, stay safe and, indeed, be well.
Like he said. Are they 120/220 capable? Gotta start there. . If it’s 220 capable, your two hot lines got into both inputs, and then your ground. It switches automatically…if it’s rated for it. (The “common” becomes a hot feed basically)
I had an electrician run a small subpanel into my workshop. It’s connected to a 30A breaker on the main. The AC runs on the original 15A to the room. I’m only running, max, 1200W in flower.
put up a photo of the connections
might help
Most 120/220 lights are switchable…and will still have the 120 plug. The easiest thing to do is wire a 120 outlet up as 220 and it will switch over automatically, internally. But, you must know if it’s an auto switching ballast.
Doing stuff like that, you must keep people away, and make damn sure you lable it as 220 so you don’t fuck up and plug a 120 thingy in it.
Sorry for the double post, in an area where cell connection keeps going in and out, will respond in more detail later.
