Hey friend,
For seed shuckin, i find it is more about removing chaf than picking seeds! Haha…
So, i first put a tarp down. Then use a 5 gallon bucket with a turkey bag.
I have a strainer i lay across the top of the bucket. Pluck fan leaves first, then shuck the flower material into the strainer.
Once, all the flower is off the stem i break up the material. To break it up, i use a combination of ways. Sometimes with fingers, sometimes slowly rolling on the palms of my hands like charas harvest. It depends on the material consistency.
During the process of breaking up the material, gravity does its work and the seeds fall to the bottom of the strainer. The lighter flower material rests on top.
Shake it a little to get all the seeds at the bottom. Then you can use a card to scoop out alot of the chaf flower material on top onto a plate.
The discard chaf flower material will have a few seeds. So, i go thru the flower discard on a plate on a slight incline. Elevated from a book, only needs a slight incline. An inch- ish.
While further breaking up the material I place the broken up material pile at the top of the plate and the seeds roll downhill, making collection at the bottom easier. I use a card to scoop into bag for collection. Beware only a “slight” incline - those buggers move!
The stuff at the bottom of the strainer has less flower material and more seed you can use the inclined plate to remove the rest of the chaf or do by hand it is pretty easy at that point - even if you pick em out 1 at a time.
Timesaver! Mindsaver! Haha…
The discarded flower material i use edibles. It is a little green and full of seed casings for joints.
Hope that made sense! Good luck! May the growth be with you!
