Amsterdam Still Relevant?

After university I went on a pilgrimage to Europe. Given that Amsterdam had, you know, legal weed, I’d have been foolish not to.

It was a great experience. Giant old churches and canals and all sorts of other neat tourist interest type things.

The hustle and bustle of the red light district was something to behold. A sea of people all with smiles seeking out their vice of choice.

Do you still care about Amsterdam? Is it somewhere you would like to visit?

As a tourist spot it has lots of appeal but as a weed Mecca maybe not so much anymore.

Glad I went then. Not so sure I would go now.

What say you?

If I find myself with the opportunity, I would take it. I don’t think I would pursue it, on it’s own, anymore.

I was there some months ago… amsterdam… still amsterdam.
Now are many legally free weed places, and probably they have their place, but ams still a place with charm. Probably not the best for weed nowadays, but there never was legal, only permitted.
I like the feeling of taking a joint and sitting on the bulldog, taking a beer, and smoking as nothing happens. In spain… we still can’t have that.

HG!

I’ve never been and I probably wouldn’t go today. Too many other places great where weed is legal and widely available. That said, I’d be good going to see Amsterdam, but weed would be pretty low on the priorities list.

For whatever reason, travelling to Europe never appealed to me. I mean, if I get offered a free flight and stay; of course. Otherwise, I’m good. Looks beautiful though!

Nop, as far as my concern goes, and as far as I know in Amsterdam weed isn’t cheap and you can only smoke indoors so no appeal for me.

10, 15 years ago I would go but never did and now the time window is gone.

Personally I’d love to go. The history is cool, they really moved the ball on legalization/culture in a huge way.

Smoke pinners of amnesia haze and drink beer outta green bottles.

Top cannatrip would be, god willing, Afghanistan. I hope relations can soften and some point in my life it would be viable to spend a month with the OGs of OGs.

Ditto here. I simply have never had a desire to go to Europe. I went to England about 35 years ago, but only because it was free.

I am in Europe and don’t go there.

But no appeal because I have been spoiled with my plants and internet porn.

I’m sure most of them won’t be checking ti see of your an out-of-towner, but I can get everything they sell there here… and its decriminalized here too. I would definately visit Amsterdam for the history and culture, but I wouldn’t be making a trip there to do drugs… I can do that here, haha

Amsterdam loose in quality since prohibition around 2000

Now 90 percent of the weed/hash is not good : just high thc percentage but no terps in general and it’s a hybrid high most of the time

Dampkring coffee shop sell old good weed (A5, C5, mexican haze), amnesia can be a good address but expensive. Grey area collaborate with a club in Barcelona to have good organic weed (18/20 euros/gram is expensive)

I prefer quality of Spain but it’s not the same environment as Amsterdam

It depends for what you go to Amsterdam. If it’s weed, go to Spain (warning : you have to stay at least 15 days in Barcelona to can enter there) but Madrid is cool. But if you go to see the beauty of Amsterdam and don’t go only for cannabis : Amsterdam is cool.

P.s. : most of Amsterdam weed is hydroponic from Belgium/Spain/East Europe. It’s not the organic weed like in USA

I was there in ~2000-2001?

In terms of weed culture, Amsterdam not very relevant anymore, I’d say.

But, like many old European cities… beautiful architecture, amazing history, and… the bicycles!
Cars do not own the streets there. Bikes and pedestrians do. It is not something folks in the US can even comprehend, until you experience it.
How quiet and enjoyable a city is, once the cars are removed.

I’d live there in a heartbeat (probably on a canal boat, if I could) :sunglasses:

I would love to visit Amsterdam, or anywhere in the Netherlands for that matter. The people are tall, the food is different, and the salt candy is terrible. They also have drum and bass, bicycles, and kickboxing. What’s not to love?

Amnterdam would be fun but not so much for drugs, and definitely not for prostitution. It would just be nice to see something new.

Ah! The salt candy! So terrible!
I love black licorice, but the salted licorice in Amsterdam is… shocking! Like, mostly inedible. :face_vomiting::skull:
I guess if you had a cold it would open your sinuses right up
