An Unexpected Earthbox Journey

Killed the slow mutant plant and cropped more tops.

Yesterday was day 1 of flower.

Today I gave them some food.

First I mixed up 50/50 worm castings and Craft Blend, then I covered that with both Malibu and Oly Mountain compost. I then watered it in with a mixture of blue corn/alfalfa SST, cheap aloe powder, a dash of Rootwise, some gypsum and a sprinkle of micro nutrients and organics alive. After that I sprinkled some half ground malted barley and Kashi Blend on top.

Ready to take on the stretch and show what they got.

Last night I added some trellis and moved tops around slightly.

This morning when I woke up.

A little more spread and ready to soak in the light and blast into the stretch.

A bit of a different topic.

I have been saving all these plastic cat litter buckets since it would cost like 8$ at the hardware store to get a bucket and lid. After finding out they are made with food grade plastic, I decided to make some “pheno hunting” SIP’s so I can run 9 of them in a 4x4.
The buckets cleaned pretty easy and there will be no shortage of these buckets so I might as well find more uses right?
It takes 2 buckets to make 1 unit, but I think it will be well worth it in the end.

I started by cutting 4" off the bottom of a bucket, as 4" is about perfect to fit in tight and still have around a 1 gallon res in the bottom when done.

I drill holes in the bottom insert and scribed/cut a hole for a medium sized net pot to fit in since I randomly had 50 of them on hand from a 3$ coupon I found a couple years back.

I put another insert on the other, but from the outside instead of the inside so it would just sandwich them together when weight is applied.

I cut a notch in the lid so I could still use it as a mulch cover and be able to open it easy and apply top dressing and liquid goodies to the top and of course I put a hole in the insert and lid for the fill tube :+1: Since I cut the notch out of the lid with a box cutter, it fit back in place perfectly sort of like my 3D printed SIP’s I made.

And finally here is it with the tube installed.

That is enough out of me, have a good day. :metal:

Day 7 of flower.

A peak under the cover.

Bad news, those cuts I got are all most likely done… Not even a nub out of any of them so far, no clue why they all don’t want to root when the ones I took from my Solfire plants rooted fine. Probably throw them out in a day or 2 and sterilize the cloner.

Day 9 of flower. Nothing special, just a little growth as the bud sites for up a little.

Yesterday was day 14 of flower. Usually I strip less at a time as I go, but did a massive strip all at once this time for the hell of it. Some pics and clips from before and after.

This morning I decided to crop some stretched out branches.

Day 21 of flower. Tents got added, moved and rearranged. The 2 Zombie Socks got the trellis split down the middle, moved to another tent and the trellis stitched back together with zip ties.

A second trellis was also added to both Tents for some more support and top organization.

There was some success on the cuts, 2 GMO and 1 Dulce De Uva are out of the cloner and in soil finally.

The Solfire clones I took from this run have just been chilling in low light trying not to use too much food. I decided just to throw 4 of them in a tent and get them going in the new cat litter bucket SIP’s I had made lol.

Here is a peak at the next leg of the project.

Humidity has been HORRIBLE today, I may need to upgrade my dehumidification game in the back room…

Day 28 of flower. Still battling humidity on and off, so hopefully this defoliation will help that for a little bit if the weather holds. If all goes well this may be the last time I mess with the plants much till harvest.

Can’t post vid clips from my phone unless I upload to YouTube or something of the sort, so just pics on OG for the moment.

A little late on the update, but… Day 35 of flower.

Pasture Bedtime (front) Gasserole (back)
The front left PB is definitely a fast finisher, 90% of the hairs on that plant are turned top to bottom and it is in finishing mode.

Zombie Socks

The first clones of Pasture Bedtime #1 and #3, Gasserole #2 and Zombie Socks #1. Sort of a fumbled into experiment, so we shall see what comes of it.

If you do not turn the quality up to like 4k, it looks pretty bad lol.

Gasserole pushing some pink and purple through the frost.

Next hunt is hopping along over there as they get ignored. 24 hour light, no humidifier, just giving them a little drink every few days and letting them do their thing.

Max the quality so it don’t look like complete trash lol.

Yesterday was day 42 of flower.

Day 19 on the random little test.

Next hunt.
